When Darcy McCall loses her beloved Aunt Molly, she doesn't expect any sort of inheritance - let alone a small island. Located off the west coast of Ireland, Tara hasn't been lived on for years, but according to Molly's will Darcy must stay there for 12 months in order to fully inherit, and she needs to persuade a village full of people to settle there, too. Darcy has to leave behind her independent city life and swap stylish heels for muddy wellies. Between sorting everything from the plumbing to the pub, Darcy meets confident Conor and ever-grumpy Dermot - but who will make her feel really at home?

What did you love best about Breakfast at Darcy's?
Breakfast at Darcy's was an enjoyable light novel. I purchased this after reading Ali McNamara's other novel from "Notting Hill to New York Actually" which I really enjoyed. The setting for this novel on a remote island off the coast of Ireland is different. I found the story interesting but felt there could have been more detail on the roles the people coming to live on the island were going to play. There were areas for instance, Darcy going to buy chocolate at the shop, what shop? In the planning for the island settlement there had been no mention of the shop. I would have preferred a bit more detail, however having said that I really enjoyed the book it was light and a bit different.I loved the way the author bought the characters to life I felt you really got to know and like them.
What other book might you compare Breakfast at Darcy's to and why?
I couldn't compare it with other chic lit novels this was not your usual romance more of an light interesting story with a touch of romance.Have you listened to any of Beth Chalmers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Beth Chalmer's performance was fine. I have not heard her other performances. If you could rename Breakfast at Darcy's, what would you call it?
I am not sure this title was the right one. I feel it implies Darcy may have run a cafe or something. What else to call it? I do not know.A light read
