Miss Linnet Berry Thrynne is a Beauty... Naturally, she's betrothed to a Beast.
Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant, lives in a castle in Wales where, it is rumored, his bad temper flays everyone he crosses. And rumor also has it that a wound has left the earl immune to the charms of any woman.
Linnet is not just any woman.
She is more than merely lovely: her wit and charm brought a prince to his knees. She estimates the earl will fall madly in love - in just two weeks.

If she decides to be very wicked indeed... what price will she pay for taming his wild heart?

"Witty banter, sexy story, good fun"
I'm mad about Eloisa!
This book has witty dialogue, interesting characters, hot sex, historical and cultural references... It's really all a woman could ask for in a historical romance novel. I think I'm going to get my husband to read this one! (Winky face)
Oh, and the narrator is really, really excellent!
Strongly recommended.
Love Star Trek
"Loved it!"
This is the second Happily Ever After book. I am just loving this series. I thought it was going to be a typical regency romance with the Beauty and the Beast storyline, but James sensei adds so much more too it.
For example, I really don't care for unnecessary long sex scenes and IMHO the author has put in just enough with fun twists. In this series they were actually romantic as well as sensual and fits the story perfectly.
In this book the heroine Linnet(beauty) is almost faultless while the hero Piers is Dr.House of his time. He is a brilliant doctor but has no bedside manners, has horrible temper, is generally cranky and has a bad leg. I love the banter and battle of the wits that ensues between them.
Unlike the other regency novels there are no rivals, balls and the ton in this story. Instead there are sick patients, arguments and healing in the harsh but beautiful setting in Wales.
I just loved this happily ever after for adults! More please
"Enjoyed this book very much."
I enjoyed the simplicity of the book. The story line was simple easy to follow and quite enjoyable. The narration was very good by Susan Duerden and I will be looking for more audio books that she narrates. I still think the narrator is the one who makes or breaks the workings of an author.
"Wonderful book..."
I was facing a dreary weekend of housework and chores. Bought this book. Completed my housework and chores lost in the wonderful world Eloisa James created. Definitely worth the credit...lovely story, beautiful writing, definitely a must for those who enjoy this genre.

"BEWARE...ONCE YOU START IT'LL BE DIFFICULT TO STOP"
As usual E.J. has put everything into her Regency fairy tale - it's got passion, humour, romance, likeable characters who get themselves entangled in a sexy touching plot. Her books are usually an automatic download for me and if you listen to this then you will know why.
Worth a credit? Yes, and I hope to continue enjoying her books with many many more series.
"Surprising Combination!"
No topic is safe, divorce, drug addiction, child abuse, to forgive or not to forgive... James manages to touch on all of these topics without leaving the listener feeling depressed. Piers Yelverton, The Earl of Merchant, is a gifted physician in the area of diagnosis and treatment with the added gift of making his bedside insults scathing. Linnet Thynne is the beautiful young woman who finds herself in the unfortunate position of needing a husband to avoid scandal. In between insults they seem to find a happy medium by agreeing they would never suit each other. In addition, the sub plot of Piers’ divorced parents is also captivating. As the listener you will find yourself switching sides throughout the novel as each character’s full story is revealed you will think them justified in their feelings. Set in a castle in Wales, a more realistic scene as compared to that of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the story moves along at a steady pace without all of the repetition usually found in historical romances and with enough twists and turns to leave you wanting to listen.
"Loved it"
The female protagonist Linnette was strong, smart and funny. I loved her. Even do the guy was a JERK, one can't help but like him. He is very smart, logical, selfless, very masculine, and extremely rude and arrogant. Yes he is all of that and more. He is not handsome in the traditional sense of the word but he is a MAN, and he makes love to his lady like there is no tomorrow. Great love scenes. Not a predictable book. It had many twist and turns.
"Great book"
I could just visualise the charachters, loved the story
everything
I rate her amoung the top , love listening to her
??
I have read or listen to nearly all of Eloisa's James books, she is the best. This book I rate near the top.
"Lots of fun"
I always enjoy a sassy woman. And lots of verbal fourplay is always fun. Would love to see this author convert more stories to Audio
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
"A five stars fairytale!"
This has been one of those audiobooks that makes me want to pause my everyday life and just listen to it. I loooooved it!! This is a Beauty and the Beast tale. Beauty is a good girl with bad luck who is a victim of vicious gossip that destroys her reputation. Her circumstances lead her to be engaged to the Beast.
I loved to hate the Beast. He is very much like Gregory House from the series House MD. A handsome brilliant doctor who has a very painful traumatic injury. The constant pain from his injury makes him angry and very easily irritable. The evolution of the relationship from this unlikely pair is absolutely amazing and consuming. Character development in this story was superb!
This is the second book in a series but each can be read individually. Each story is completely separate from the others. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good historical romance. The narrator did a very good job with this story too. I just found it perfect!
