Engaging, Entertaining, & Educational

This was a fantastic book. My kids 10, 12, 14 who have been on a "we hate math" phase for a while have actually enjoyed the book. Jason keeps it light and humorous, while still conveying the basic tips in an easily understandable way. As my daughter said, "it's easy when HE explained it"

Just Get It

It's tragic to think of all the mental pain and agony, not to mention time, that would have been spared if only I would have learned this 25 years ago.

Incredible waste of time.

Would you try another book from Jason Marshall and/or Jason Marshall?

No way.

What could Jason Marshall have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Do two things:

One. Put in title a very clear indication that the book is for humanists, beginners, people who never did mental math, and that it gives you very basics. Make sure if an engineering grad reads the title he would skip over it and not even think of buying it.

Two. Remove all the 'inspirational speech' bullshit, stupid real world analogies, and stop repeating yourself multiple times, like you're practicing hypnosis. This is practical tech. stuff, it's not religion, nor philosophy, nor a hypnotherapy session.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to 35 mins of the book, that's 64% (couldn't handle more), it were probably the most unproductive 35 mins I had in years. Supersimple stuff delivered super slowly. I had answers a second or two after the author was finishing reading his example.

Two stars instead of one, because I think the book may be still (marginally) useful for people with non-technical degrees, or for children. Although it still has good deal of dangerous 'inspirational speech' type of brainwashing.

too brief

too brief to be of any real value to someone who wants to learn how to do this. A commercial to buy the real book

Horrible experience

What would have made The Math Dude’s 5 Tips to Mastering Mental Math better?

This was really a waste of cash... This does not help in calculating faster unless you are a moron.... I recommend other books

Math tips everyone can use!

This was a very easy to grasp set of tips for practical, everyday math usage, especially for those who are not mathematically inclined. The author and narrator did an excellent job getting these ideas across. He was encouraging and pleasant to listen to. I would definely purchase some more of his materials. At $.95, this was a steal.
