Can there truly be love after death?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life - or her actual death - she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.
Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world... forever.
Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

I thought this one was a sweet love story. Because of course, she saves the boy. The other players in the story, a well-meaning grandmother, and another ghost, kept things interesting as they struggle to figure out who Amelia was(because she has little to no memory of who she was before she died), and how to make an impossible relationship work.
I am looking forward to the sequel, and seeing where it takes Amelia and Joshua, and the unlikely love between a ghost and a human.

What made the experience of listening to Hereafter the most enjoyable?
I'm enjoying the premise of the story, but the whiney, 'like, oh my god, like, whatever' kind of pseudo teenager voice that the narrator uses is really making it hard to actually listen.Would you be willing to try another one of Emily Eiden’s performances?
Not if her voice is naturally like the one used in this book. She even has the same whiney voice for the male characters in the book. Ironically, there are sections of narration where the whine does not exist, so why its switched on so heavily for 90% of the story, god only knows.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I'm still listening, so can't give a full review, and I'm not sure that I'll be able to listen much longer, so might have to switch to the kindle version.Struggling to listen to the Narrator
