About this listen

Some secrets just can't stay buried, in the brilliant new Lucas Davenport thriller from the number-one New York Times- bestselling author. "One of the best," said Kirkus Reviews of Storm Prey. "Razor-sharp dialogue, a tautly controlled pace and enough homicides for a miniseries. What more could fans want?"

A house demolition provides an unpleasant surprise for Minneapolis - the bodies of two girls, wrapped in plastic. It looks like they've been there a long time. Lucas Davenport knows exactly how long.In 1985, Davenport was a young cop with a reputation for recklessness, and the girls' disappearance was a big deal. His bosses ultimately declared the case closed, but he never agreed with that. Now that he has a chance to investigate it all over again, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: It wasn't just the bodies that were buried. It was the truth.

I found this a little slow to get into, but really enjoyed the middle and end of the book. Great balance of character development while keeping the story moving.

Good murder mystery.

Loved it! Always do love the books involving this detective and even though there are many books, each one is a stand alone story!

Another Great Read

I have only just begun to listen to this book, so I cannot give it five stars, but am really enjoying the backstory on Lucas' career.

Mr. Sandford, please keep writing! Your books are always interesting, educational, and make me laugh out loud sometimes. I will come back to change my rating to five stars when I am done.

So Glad to Have Another "Prey"

This book was even better than most of the Prey Series. Some very good twists. Sandford is the man. If he keeps writing this stuff, I'll keep reading it.

And he does it again...

My sadness overwhelms me. The death of Marcy Sherral surprised me and made me sad. Moving on John Sanfords Lucas Davenport is still the best

I love Sandford and Lucas Davenport but this is not the best one. I could have skipped it. If you read the Storm Prey, the person that does had a kid and was in a serious relationship. The kid was the same age as Sam, then in this book she isn’t in a serious relationship but there is no mention of the kid? And the man she was with? Also the flashback took too long to build. In summary if you are reading the books sequentially you can skip this one.

Not his best- Spoiler so Don’t Read if You Care

Exciting & fast-paced as Lucas looks back at the case that started his career as a detective. He is edgy & determined to find the culprit he knew was out there all these years, especially working with his old buddies from the squad. Lots of twists & turns in the plot. Loved it.

Sanford does it again!

I loved Wicked Prey! It goes back to the young days of Lucas and shows us the macho, handsome, lady's man he was before he got married!! I love Weather and his kids, but the dynamics of his decisions are very different now. This book was more like the earlier Prey books with the intensity of the young cops and his friends who ended up at the BCA with him. I recommend highly!!!!!

Best Prey book in ages!!!
