Publisher's summary

When Milton and Marlo Fauster die in a marshmallow-bear explosion, they get sent straight to Heck, an otherworldly reform school. Milton can understand why his kleptomaniac sister is here, but Milton is—or was—a model citizen. Has a mistake been made? Not according to Bea “Elsa” Bubb, the Principal of Darkness. She doesn’t make mistakes. She personally sees to it that Heck—whether it be home-ec class with Lizzie Borden, ethics with Richard Nixon, or gym with Blackbeard the pirate—is especially, well, heckish for the Fausters. Will Milton and Marlo find a way to escape? Or are they stuck here for all eternity, or until they turn 18, whichever comes first?

Glad this was on the free list...

It wasnt a bad book but it wasnt great either. i would probably not continue with the series unless i was out of other options. If i had used a credit i would be unhappy.

Great Fun!!

Definitely juvenile but also great fun for everyone, even this 67 y/o grandma! Will probably listen to this again and again, whenever I need a silly lift. The performance of the narrator goes way beyond 5 stars and is surely what gives this fun book a big kick in the pants!! ☺️

Young adult theological satire?? Yes please!

Unrelentingly dismal yet irresistibly funny at the same time! This brilliantly performed story still have you pondering the questions of eternity, but will leave you shaking with laughter rather than existential dread!

Hilarious

Laugh out loud fun story with a twisted sense of humor and the use of upside down language.

Good book bad narrator

The book itself is good but the narrator is very unclear I can’t Make out what there saying at all sometimes, and with the added accent’s it make’s it almost impossible to understand some of the narrations.

Very interesting story with a great narrator!!!!

I really enjoyed this first book and though it's more for kids than adults I found it both moving and compelling the first in a series its just a shame that all 8 books aren't available on audible.

Nice

A bit sad in the end, but it is really a fascinating and slightly disgusting book.

Enjoyable

The imagery and the narration are magnificent. My only issue was the telling that obese kids went to heck. Being a glutton shouldn’t be praised but the fact you’re born big in it self shouldn’t be a sin. Some of the kids depicted in the story are horrible people. Being judged for all eternity for being a “kid” wasn’t right. Still enjoyed the book very much.

amusing

I didn't enjoy this book; the subject matter would be more interesting for someone much younger than me, but it's cleverly written, amusing, well narrated and different from anything else I've read.
