“Speedy, exhilarating, and smooth. Nobody does it better.”

“The man knows how to grab you—and Pronto is one of the best grabbers in years.”
Entertainment Weekly

Fans of U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens of the hit TV series Justified are in for a major treat. The unstoppable manhunter with the very itchy trigger finger stars in Pronto, a crime fiction gem from the one and only Elmore Leonard, “the greatest crime writer of our time, perhaps ever” (New York Times Book Review). The Grand Master justifies the overwhelming acclaim he has received over the course of his remarkable career with an electrifying thriller that sends the indomitable Raylan racing to Italy on the trail of a fugitive bookie who’s hiding from the vengeful Miami mob. The legendary Leonard, whom the Seattle Times lauds as the “King Daddy of crime writers,” proves that all comparisons to American noir icons John D. MacDonald, Dashiell Hammett, and James M. Cain are well deserved with this tale of very dirty doings and extremely dangerous men coming together in the birthplace of Puccini, Garibaldi, and La Cosa Nostra.

It's not hard to hard to be swept away by any of Elmore Leonard's characters in his books, and Raylan is one of his best. Rayland exemplifies the very best of an old west sheriff in a modern day world serving in the U.S. Marshall's service. Loaded with characters and dialogue that you will not soon forget. It is not hard to understand why so many of Elmore's books and characters make it to the big screen and television; they are just plain and simple entertainment. Enjoy this listen!

Great character, even better dialogue!

This is a very rare case where the TV show/movie is better then the book. Justified was amazing. So I decided I would listen to the book, since the book is always better. Not in this case. All I can say it is it fine. It isn't bad, it certainly isn't great, it is fine. Doesn't make me want to go listen to the other books at all. The narrator, Alexander Adams didn't help things. He is far from the worse narrator I have heard, but he didn't help the book. He is middle of the road, closer to the bottom of average.

Disapointingly average and meh

If you've ever watched Justified on FX and love it as much as I do, you'll want to read this book. Raylan Givens is a bad ass. Great book!

If you like Elmore Leonard than you will enjoy this. That’s probably close to a given. If you are not familiar with him than the book is a fun story with some of the best dialogue I know of. It’s easy to listen to. Easy to follow and the narration is 5 star.

Great story, Great narration

If you’re a fan of justified, you need to hear this story. Raylan’s beginning opens your eyes to how he goes about his business in the TV show (and probably the later books.) The performance is great, even down to the Italian wiseguy accents. I will continue listening to Raylan’s story.

One of Elmore’s best books like I’ve said before once you start his books, you can’t stop it’ll have you on the edge of the seat the entire time

Don’t miss out

Elmore Leonard creates great characters. Hombre, Get Shorty, and dozens more. Raylan Givens is done with Justfied but original stories started here

My first Elmore Leonard book. It was enjoyable but not exactly the most thought-provoking story. I kind of saw the boys coming a mile away and it felt like a lot of padding. The only black which I'm never a fan O.

light read kind of predictable not very deep
