Their masters in the RCN and the Republic's intelligence service have sent them to the fringes of human space to relax away from danger. But the barbarians of the outer reaches have their own plans, plans which will bring down both Cinnabar and the Alliance.

The enemies of peace include traitors, giant reptiles, and barbarian pirates whose ships can outsail even Daniel Leary's splendid corvette, the Princess Cecile. Unless Daniel, Adele, and their unlikely allies succeed, galactic civilization will disintegrate into blood and chaos. So they will succeed - or they'll die trying!

Good book, production marred

I liked the book, its more of the same RCN stories. The narration occasionally switches narrators for brief passages. It's quite jarring.

I've listened to this at least 5 times

I enjoy all the Leary and Mundy novels from With the Lightnings to book 10.

Great Story, Bad Audio Edits

I love the RCN series. Can't get enough. However in this story, the audio edits seemed extreme in amounts and audio difference. It kept taking me out of the story. My be best if read.

book 8 is just as good as the first

RCN forever. UP cinnabar.

this 8th book is still great . peace has broken out but Daniel and adelle are still needed. they kick some wig arse.

the reader is excellent as ever.

Another good entry for the RCN Series

There are some issues with the recording. But the story and performance overall are excellent.

Some minor rough audio edits only slightly detract from the illusion.
