“Wild, mesmerizing, perversely witty….A Valentine from hell.”
—Janet Maslin, New York Times

The publication of Joe Hill’s beautifully textured, deliciously scary debut novel Heart-Shaped Box was greeted with the sort of overwhelming critical acclaim that is rare for a work of skin-crawling supernatural terror. It was cited as a Best Book of the Year by Atlanta magazine, the Tampa Tribune, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, and the Village Voice, to name but a few. Award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling Neil Gaiman of The Sandman, The Graveyard Book, and Anansi Boys fame calls Joe Hill’s story of a jaded rock star haunted by a ghost he purchased on the internet, “relentless, gripping, powerful.” Open this Heart-Shaped Box from two-time Bram Stoker Award-winner Hill if you dare and see what all the well-deserved hoopla is about.

The story kept moving forward at a very quick pace. I can't think how many times I wondered how anything more could happen, but it did. I would have liked a more interesting ending, but as a whole, a pretty good book. The narrator was very good.

Pretty good

3 stars is generous and it is only because he can write. I found the story far-fetched with undeveloped characters I really didn't care about. Some of his themes are really overused and predictable (no spoilers here.) Why does he feel he has to follow in King's footsteps, anyway?
On the bright side, the narrator did a great job.

Grossly over-rated

If you enjoy the supernatural and dont mind entertaining what I refer to as "the unbelievability factor" then I have no doubt you will enjoy this book. At times I found it just went over the line but at the same time I kept on listening because all and all the writing was compelling. I liked the narrator. Light reading and Entertaining but probably wont remember it for long.

Good Ghost Story

I don’t know why authors always kill the dogs off. Like they’re just expendable characters. Stoppit!

Stop killing the dogs!

This is by far one of the best books I have ever heard or read! I just loved Jude and Mary Beth, and I felt sad for Anna. I was scared of Craddock, and leary of Martin. I was left shivering in frear and then relief by the end of the book. Most excellent book!

Extreme entertainment!
