For the Cat in the Hat Story Alone - Buy This One!

For me, recommending this book comes down to price. The Cat in the Hat Story alone is worth the price of this book, so if you can find this version for the right price you can't go wrong with this version.

Some of the stories and narration are fantastic, some are blah. The bonus stories are worth a listen, but the Cat in the Hat is the superior listen.

My kids loved this

The 5 & 2 year old loved this. The performances are fantastic, and of course the stories are great. Even without Dr Seuss's illustrations, the stories hold up. Very easy to listen to with these great actors reading, though it would have been nice to have a female narrator in the mix.

Would you listen to The Cat in the Hat and Other Dr. Seuss Favorites again? Why?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Horton from Horton hears a who.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely love it

As a children's librarian, I'm an avid reader and so are my kids. We love Dr Seuss and have most of his most well-known stories memorized at this point. I needed something to entertain everyone on a long ride to the beach this summer, so we tried this - it was perfect. Each reader is a wonderful storyteller. We should know this by their individual acting performances, but to hear them read is such a delight! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Dr Seuss, the actors reading these stories, or excellent storytelling, in general.

I loved the story line and it was a fun book

I liked the male voices but I disliked when there was too strong of an accent it made it hard to enjoy the book

Good, but.....

The source material is unquestionably good; the readings are *mostly* very good; the music is intrusive, superfluous, and frankly, grating. Dustin Hoffman is the best of the bunch, showing incredible class and demonstrating that he is an Actor (capital A) even when reading "Horton Hears a Who". Not bad for a car trip, but you'll miss the pictures.

Great rendition with amazing cast!

I really enjoyed the celebrity voice cast here. The background music was a little unnecessary but it was subtle enough to not be too distracting
