Hilton Als is a theater critic at The New Yorker and has received a George Jean Nathan Award for drama criticism. He is the author of The Group, about the novelist James Baldwin, and The Women, a collection of essays on gender and race.
Anthony Lane joined The New Yorker in 1993 as a film critic. He has published a collection, Nobody's Perfect: Writings from The New Yorker. A recipient of a National Magazine Award for Reviews and Criticism, he has written on subjects ranging from Lego and cookbooks to a sing-along screening of The Sound of Music.
