Acerca de esta escucha
On the eve of a secret military operation, an assassin's bullet strikes President Seth Jerrison. He is rushed to the hospital, where surgeons struggle to save his life. At the same hospital, researcher Dr. Ranjip Singh is experimenting with a device that can erase traumatic memories.
Then a terrorist bomb detonates. In the operating room, the president suffers cardiac arrest. He has a near-death experience - but the memories that flash through Jerrison's mind are not his memories.
It quickly becomes clear that the electromagnetic pulse generated by the bomb amplified and scrambled Dr. Singh's equipment, allowing a random group of people to access one another's minds.
And now one of those people has access to the president's memories - including classified information regarding the upcoming military mission, which, if revealed, could cost countless lives. But the task of determining who has switched memories with whom is a daunting one - particularly when some of the people involved have reason to lie....

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Started out interesting, then grew tiresome
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I really couldn't wait until it was over, the same ramblings on about the same thing over and over. Never really gripped my attention. I wish I could get my credit back.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Woodman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The performance was very good, and yes I would listen to him again. Hopefully, with a better story.
Do you think Triggers needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, please, no.

loved This Book
I loved the action in this book There was a feeling of 24 in the beginning of this book.
i loved the idea of being connected to someone's knowledge and thoughts.
I have read several of Robert J. Sawyer's books, and what i can say that all his books have an ending that shows how the world is changed in a lot of ways.
highly recommended

More action and less musing than his usual fare
In the forward to Triggers, Robert Sawyer comments that because of the interest shown in his books since the airing of Flash Forward, he decided to put more action scenes in his next book. He definitely did that and he did it quite well. I wouldn't say I preferred this style which sometimes seemed to read more like a script than a novel, but it was entertaining and easy to listen to. Like all of his novels, it provided plenty of food for thought and inspired lots of "what if...?" conversations. The plot was tight and held together well until the last 10% when, in my opinion, it began to unravel a bit. For me, the ending did not seem to be the most logical progression and it felt a bit rushed. The rest of the book, however, was gripping.

Not his best stuff by far.
I've read virtually everything Robert Sawyer has ever written. They usually range from excellent (Counting God) to pretty damned good (Hominid series). This is just average by normal standards. By Robert J Sawyer standard, I think it's below average. The narration is very good, the story is moderately interesting, and deals with mostly memory. Some aspects of the story are cool, but just not enough to carry the whole thing.

Great Book; Well Read
Someone else called this book a "spiritual thriller" and I would agree, as that phrase put me in mind of Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas books, and this has some similarities in terms of "feel". I liked the premise of the book; I thought it was well written and read with care. There are some unbelievable parts, but that's what it is to read this kind of book--of course, everything in it couldn't really happen. That's what some kinds of fiction are like. I would recommend this wholeheartedly.

Triggers was very entertaining
Would you listen to Triggers again? Why?
No, I do not usually back up on my reading.

It is unique as I have come to expect from Robert Sawyer
Which scene was your favorite?
When the older woman who was reading the President sent him a letter inviting him to do the right thing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, although there are humanist elements that are funny and sad.
Any additional comments?
Very good read and the audible version was excellent.
