"Comedy Masterpiece"
The most hilarious book I have ever read.
The comedy is silent ,it catches you by surprise
so that you have to go back to read it again.
Serge is hilarious and his sidekick.
If you don't have a sense of humor you may miss a lot.
George wilson is the very best narrator out there.
Bar None especially in torpedo Juice.
I will read this again and again which is not
my usual.

"What a funny book - laugh out loud hysterical"
This is the first audiobook I Purchased written by Tim Dorsey. Now I am hooked!!! Since listening to Torpedo Juice I have read or listened to all Tim Dorsey's books, but being my first - this audiobook will alway before extra special to me ... SOOOO funny.
"Enjoy it"
This is a chance to take a mental vacation into a world of complicated characters. I enjoyed the book.
"Walk the dog"
We all have a little (or a lot) of Serge in us or at least we know someone who could trigger us up to that level. This is a very funny book - read it while walking the dog!
"Coleman's back?"
This may be the best "Serge" book of them all
While Serge is my favorite, Coleman ranks right up there, too
This time, he was part of it, too funny
Serge, his mind is amazing!
A must read, or, as in this case, listen!!
"Insanity in the Keys"
The story was set in and around places that I have been to on vacations.
Tim Dorsey's books do not compare with any other authors that I have listened to. If I had to pick, I would say Christopher Moore in Lamb, The Stupidest Angel, or the Lust Lizard of Meloncholy Cove. The comparisons are mainly because of the off beat sense of humor.
Coleman in the No Name Pub taking dollar bills from the wall.
No Name Insanity.
Pretty good story in retrospect because you don't find out who the bad guy was until the end.
"Eh, not so much"
This book was a tough listen. I suspect it reads better then it is audible. The broken writing style doesn't translate particularly well into audible, even though he may be writing in a way to emulate the spoken word and thought progression.
Plus the recording itself was not very good; lots of breathing and other noises in the quiet spaces. Very distracting.
"Mind wanders"
I enjoy Dorsey's and Hiaasen’s FL themed books with all of the craziness that goes with the territory. For the first time ever, I had trouble concentrating on this book and found my mind wandering. Take this as a clue. Tim’s storytelling seemed to be all over the place and the overall flow just isn’t there like in his other books. One annoying factor is how he resurrected Coleman doing it through narration which offers an odd taste from the appetizer tray of story events.
I usually don’t comment of the technical aspects of an audio book, but the editing between chapters is terrible. Hardly a millisecond goes by when George finishes the last sentence of a chapter and he’s announcing the next one – very odd and abrupt especially for a listening audience.
If you have listened to any of Tim Dorsey’s books, you might as well listen to this one if for nothing else than to have another notch on your Dorsey belt.
Love to read. Mysteries, history, romance, biography, current events, science, classic fiction. No vampires. No zombies. No self-help. Find me on GoodReads and BookLikes.
"I'll stick to Hiassen"
My problem from the get go is that the book sounded like a Hiassen novel because I have George Wilson's voice stuck in my head as the voice of Hiassen. This did not help me at all because it made it hard for me to get past constantly comparing the two. All I heard was what sounded like a bad Hiassen novel. The similarities in style, satire, setting liberally sprinkled with screw-loose characters made it even harder to get away from constantly comparing the two authors.
"Funny at times but no real storyline"
I love the characters and the reader is excellent but there really isn't much of a story here. It's just random scenes in the Florida Keys that really don't ever come together to make sense. I did get some good laughs out of the characters though.
