Publisher's Summary

Genghis Khan was the greatest conqueror of all time, who, at his peak, ruled an empire that stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Caspian Sea. His conquests are the stuff of legend, his tomb a forgotten mystery. Until now.

When Dirk Pitt is nearly killed rescuing an oil survey team from a freak wave on Russia's Lake Baikal, it appears a simple act of nature. When the survey team is abducted and Pitt's research vessel is nearly sunk, however, it's obvious there's something more sinister involved. All trails lead to Mongolia, and a mysterious mogul who is conducting covert deals for supplying oil to the Chinese while wreaking havoc on global oil markets utilizing a secret technology. The Mongolian harbors a dream of restoring the conquests of his ancestors, and holds a dark secret about Genghis Khan that just might give him the wealth and power to make that dream come true.

From the frigid lakes of Siberia to the hot sands of the Gobi Desert, Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino find intrigue, adventure, and peril while collecting clues to the mysterious treasure of Xanadu. But first, they must keep the tycoon from murder - and the unleashing of a natural disaster of calamitous proportions.

Filled with breathtaking suspense and brilliant imagination, this novel is yet further proof that when it comes to adventure writing, nobody beats Clive Cussler.

Take another thrill ride with Dirk Pitt.

I read all the time, or nearly. I always have, I guess, since I was very young ... and now, getting older, more audio than any other medium.

"A guilty pleasure, par excellence ..."

Dirk may be getting a little long in the tooth, but he's still up for adventure. You can count on Dirk. He'll be okay. And you will have fun along the way ... a few shivers ... a few laughs ... and some ideas definitely worth thinking on. Another winner from an author (now authors) who has doesn't know how to write a boring book. And may he never learn.

    "Not what I expected"

I love CC and, let's face it, if Scott Brick reads it, it is likely pretty decent. But I found this a bit hard to follow--a lot of skipping around geographically.
    This isn't about Khan's treasure--really.

Don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Trip's cool though. Use Audible to make gym-training sane... And rip my imagination.

    "Warning: May Induce Alzheimer's"

This book has the magical power to erase itself as you listen to it. A series of tedious action scenes tied together with a moldy string, it is Kussler at his worst. Okay, it's amusing to randomly open a history book and play "Truth or Dare" with your friends.... "What would have happened if?" But if this is what they'd come up with for this spot in history... I'd hunt for some friends with imagination. Look it's not the worst way I've ever wasted my time, which means it doesn't even hit that extreme. Pass on this one, eh?

    "Another great Pitt story."
What did you like best about Treasure of Khan? What did you like least?

Unique and interesting storyline that occurs mostly out of the water!

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration moved along well most of the time while lagging in some spots.

Could you see Treasure of Khan being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Due to it's length at lends itself to a series more than a movie.

    Any additional comments?

unabriged version somewhat LONG with 3 parts
