Dragondrums: Harper Hall Trilogy, Volume 3

This is another favorite author of mine from my adolescence. I am rereading them with my ears and finding them more enjoyable than ever. The wonderful tales thread together to create a world of dragons. Yet the story is still a story of human relations, charactors, emotions, life and society. In each book we can find our selves and those we know.

The Harper Hall audiobook series is my new favorite. Dragondrums is the last of the trilogy, and does not disappoint.

I can't help but fall in love with Piemur, the main character. But Menolly will always hold top spot in my heart.

It makes me laugh throughout, and cry in spots.

I love the Pern books, but the Harper Hall Trilogy are the ones I will keep on my player at all times, and the ones I will share with my 9-yr-old grandaughter. Love them!

This is our introduction to Piemer. A young boy who's very beautiful singing voice changes. It creates numerous problems for him as a future Harper. His proclivity for troublemaking causes problems in his new Harper home in the Drum Tower. The jealousy of others to his quick mind cause him numerous problems, due to his reputation for being a little too conniving. That may have come back to bite him initially, but saves him in the long run.
As before, Sally Darling was OK as narrator. Not at all bad, but the pronunciation of the names still grated. N'ton to me is Nah-ton, she says in un-ton during these books and it just doesn't sound natural to me, both narrators pronounce Piemer as pi-mer (like primer), and to me he's always been pee-mer, like pea the vegetable, so that was an adjustment. That's just me and my opinion though (and my possible mispronunciation for over 3 decades), and it doesn't get in the way of another Anne McCaffrey classic being as wonderful as it is for the ultimate in escapism.

first time Yes. the many times sence in a more thought maner.

Very much so as Anne has such a good grasp of Pern and the Harperhall craft that it is a great read and introduces other characters from other books as to make you want to read them also.

I would compare it to all of her other Pern books, with her son and other writers helping near the end, and I would liken her writing of the world of Pern to JRR Tolken's writing and development of Middle Earth.

Piemers heading for the hills away from the numb weed harvesters as the discription of the smell made it come to life, I could actually feel Piemers distaste for the smell.

Growth is a hard thing! Watch as Piemer goes from a great treble with lots of friends and full of pranks, to a loyal but lonely young man, who by devious means finally fulfills his desire for a Firelizard of his own!

The end of Marion was a just one that was expedited by Piemer as an incidental result of his getting his Queen Firelizard.

Yes, the book is a very good book, incorporating themes of music as well as ancient culture seamlessly into a fantasy novel. As the third in the Harper Hall trilogy, this book is one of the best Mccaffrey books in my opinion.

Yes, because I enjoyed all three in this series and this final book completes it.

When Piemur takes the Queen egg.

When Piemur is reunited with Sebell and Menolly.

Both, for different reasons.

I loved listening to an old fav. the narrator did an great job here voice fit the characters and the story very well. I have listened to it a couple of time since I down loaded it.

This was a good listen, with good narration, good story line, good ending. Good is all i would give it, not great but they cant all be. Its worth the listen

This book carries on the tale of the Harper Hall, fire lizards and Menolly. Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors and this book, along with the 1st two in the trilogy can also be listend to with my kids. It carries you along and leaves you wanting more.
