Eve's investigation turned to the provocative world of virtual reality games - where the same techniques used to create joy and desire could also prompt the mind to become the weapon of its own destruction.

"GOING BACK TO #4 AFTER LISTENING TO MOST RECENT"
YES
I WAS CONCERNED THAT I WOULD BE BORED. I HAVE LISTENED TO MOST OF THIS SERIES AND ALWAYS COME BACK TO IT. I HAVE EVEN LISTENED TO #33 THE MOST RECENT. I HAD MISSED THIS EARLIER VERSION. I WASN'T DISSAPPOINTED. YES THE CHARACTERS HAVE EVOLVED AND I AM AMAZED HOW THIS AUTHOR IS ABLE TO KEEP THEM EVOLVING AND THE MURDERS AREN'T THE REASON TO LISTEN BUT THE CHARACTERS. I STILL ENJOYED #4 AS IT JUST BROUGHT ME BACK IN TIME AND SHOWED THE RELATIONSHIPS EARLIER ON.
I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE THAT HAS NOT LISTENED TO THIS SERIES START WITH THE FIRST ONE AND GO STRAIGHT THROUGH NOT MISSING ANY. I CAN'T GIVE A NEGATIVE ABOUT ANY OF THE BOOKS.
SHE DOES ALL THE VOICES WITH THE ENTIRE SERIES AND YOU INSTANTLY RECOGNIZE THEM. SHE NEVER CHANGES THE VOICES AND YOU KNOW WHO THE CHARACTERS ARE. THE VOICES AND INFLECTIONS ARE VERY GOOD FOR EACH CHARACTER.

"Painless reading"
I love Nora Roberts, but resisted reading her as J. D. Robb. I decided to try this summer and got the Audible version of the first in her "In Death" series. I absolutely love the books. I think the character of Eve is real enough. Although I realize that the character of Roarke is only a dream, I pretend that he really could exist. The narration is excellent, and the narrator is one of my favorites. I'm reading them in order.
I am a retired Court Reporter and I LOVE books. All kinds of books but my favorites are mysteries and period books. I like civil war books and some biographies.

"Another great episode with Dallas!"
the continuation of characters and the story
all of it
she has a great fit for the various characters and you can visualize them
"Keeps you wondering."
Yes, very entertaining.
The plot and the different characters in the book.
No
It made me laugh some, but it also made me wonder if in years way down the road that we could be living like that or with things that are mentioned in the book.
I will be going on to book 5 when I'm done listening to book 4.
"Love this series!"
Yes and I have! This series never gets boring, I love how the book keeps you in suspense but gives you a little hint of who the killer is.
When Eve discovered the killer and the way she handled herself as she discovered it. She is so calm and cool and she knows how to handle every situation.
I love Rorke he is awesome and sexy!
When she ran to Rorke at the end thinking he was dead! I cried!
"Really enjoying the series"
I like getting to know the characters more and laughing and crying with them. The book is well written and Susan Ericksen does a great job with all of the characters.
"Most intriguing"
This was truly a good book. The pieces just seem to fall into place and you find yourself trying to solve the mystery or thinking to prompt Eve to think in a different way.
Feels like Eve is over thinking her relationship and should just go with the flow = but then her relationship with Roarke wouldn't be what it is and again this is really why I am reading this- I need to see what happens.
She and Summerset also have a great interaction - I love the way he is with her.
"Death series"
I love this series. thank you for the recommendation audible! It is funny, exciting, has plenty of twist and sexy. Well done.

"The Narrator gave the Characters real personality!"
I was two thirds through Immortal in Death as a hard copy when I saw this title in Audible.
In spite of having the difficulty of reading a title in the middle of a series, I was sufficiently hooked to order the Audible version of Book 4.
This turned out to be a real bonus largely due to Susan Ericksen's interpretation of the book's Characters.
The Irish brogue of Roarke & the very amusing accent chosen for Peabody, gave the book more appeal & made for easier listening.
Maybe if I had started at book 1, I may have had a better understanding but book 3 was given to me and I dutifully pitched in and read it!
I realise now that I had very little understanding of the characters or the era in which the books are set.
I would advise any potential readers/listeners to probably start at the beginning!!
