Publisher's Summary

Can you live 28 years without discovering you're a witch?

Lauren is downtown Chicago's youngest elite realtor. She's also a witch. She must be - the fetching spell for Witches' Chat isn't supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least.

The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.

A Modern Witch is a full-length novel, 81,000 words.

The next two books in the series, A Hidden Witch and A Reckless Witch, are coming soon to audio.

    "Loved everything about this book!"

To sum it up, the book is filled with warm fluffies. Definitely a chick-book! The book was lighthearted and fun. Discovering that you are a witch really messes with your brain. But again, I loved the book because of the love between the families, especially between parents and their children. I will definitely listen to the second book.

"Good story line and characters feel Iike family"
Where does A Modern Witch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top of the list and I have read many audio books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Modern Witch?

Jamie's coming face to face with his destiny

What about Martha Harmon Pardee’s performance did you like?

Her voice was easy to listen to, did not grate on the nerves

    Any additional comments?

I have read all the books in the Modern Witch series and found the audio book just as good. It held my interest throughout the book. Iam looking forward to the others in the series going audio.

"Chick lit with a touch of fantasy"

A Modern Witch was entertaining at best and confusing at worst. The narrator tried her best to make chat conversations understandable without calling the name of the character before every statement. The story was light and consentrated on relationships and characters. There was a lot of repetition, and, in my opinion, underestimating the reader. For a light listen, this was good, but the listeners should not put their hopes too high.

I usually like a more erotic story but this one was great. Entertaining story that progressed at the perfect pace so you got thoroughly engaged.

Looking forward to more books by this author.

"Absolutely Enjoyable Story For Young and Old!"

Great, relatable characters brought together through majic. Its a wonderful yarn about discovery and the unlocking of gifts, and finding a new suportive community that encourages greatness!

I hope the rest of the series is available in audible format.

"Wonderful start to the Audible for this series!"
If you could sum up A Modern Witch in three words, what would they be?

    Magickal, Fantastic, Entertaining

Who was your favorite character and why?

Aerwyn - the most powerful, littlest, and lovable witch!

Which character – as performed by Martha Harmon Pardee – was your favorite?

    Moira - great accent!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The celebration at the end was wonderful - wish I'd been there!

    Any additional comments?

I just finished listening to A Modern Witch, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed revisiting all these folks again for the first time. Listening to the book was every much as pleasurable as when I read it, and I can’t wait until the next audio book comes out! I have always been one for re-reading favorite books, and each time around I notice things that I missed in the first reading. Thank you for making this book available as an audio book, Debora!

    "Just ok"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was fairly good, but had a hard time listening to it. It was read in very child like voices, that just didn't really bring the characters to life. The male voices were especially hard to handle.

    "Preditable - boring"
What disappointed you about A Modern Witch?

It was like going to a PTA meeting.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    I'm not sure

What didn’t you like about Martha Harmon Pardee’s performance?

    Too chipper

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Modern Witch?

    I can't say, couldn't listen to it.

    "Boring, shallow, and so predictable"

My favorite books are always the ones that catch my interest in the first chapter or two. This books still didn't have my interest after 3 hours when I finally turned it off. It was poorly written, and the problem was compounded by a bad narrator. All the women, except for Aunt Myrna, sounded the same. And the narrator sounded overly perky about everything. Ms. Pardee would do best in self help books for self esteem and confidence boosts.
There was nothing in the characters personalities to distinguish one from another. I found, after 3 hours, that the author had done nothing to make you identify or sympathize with any of the people in the story. No motivation to care about the characters, and no situations to keep you listening to the end. This author and narrator have definitely moved to the top of my 'avoid at all costs' list.
... And what was up with the annoying click clack of typewriter keys between every scene? Wow.

    "Seriously?"

I sat through this entire book thinking it had to get better. It didn't. When one of the main characters is supposedly a 4 yr old "witchling" who can't understand why adults are "nekee" but does understand how cells separate in a woman's womb and create twins what the heck did I expect. This was just a particularly lame book with not a lot to offer. The narrator seemed to be constantly amused by something that the listener just wasn't in on. Do not waste your time.
