Lord Ferdinand Dudley is accustomed to getting what he wants... that is, until he appears at the door of Pinewood Manor, attempting to claim his rightful estate, and is met by the bewitching fury of Lady Viola Thornhill. She refuses to cede him the home she calls her own. He refuses to leave. So the contest begins. Each day under the same roof brings its share of frustration... and temptation. But Viola knows it is a battle she cannot afford to lose. Marriage is out of the question, and she will be no man’s mistress, even as Dudley’s unnerving presence threatens to melt her resolve. Against his better judgment, Lord Ferdinand Dudley is beguiled. This maddening beauty has stirred him as no woman had before. And now he is bound and determined to make her his own.

"ENJOYABLE"
Good story and characters, has the lows of falling into too much silent over mind chatter in some chapters but overall enjoyable with a good blend of different characters and some expectant surprises but some not so expectant. The coming together for the final few chapters is great. Light and fun. Narration good and clear, not overpowering or boring.
"Neverending..."
The narrator was excellent, the story, not so much.
Actually, it started off good, had some interesting ideas, but totally bogged down in the neverending middle. The hero was too good to be true, a paragon. I struggled through the first few hours and was about to give up when there was a spark of interest, an unexpected twist, but then more blah, blah, blah had me skipping chapters and hours of the second half of the book until I listened to the last 30 minutes.
This was my first (and probably last) book by this author. When I enjoy a book in a series and meet characters from a previous book, I often get that book to learn their stories. In this case, I am mildly curious about those characters, but won't be getting the book as I don't have confidence that I could listen to it, fearing another boggy middle.
I read so I can write
“I love all genres of books, however when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
""Another Good Listen""
The second in the series and I found the book very enjoyable. Good story and excellent narration with a good blend of different characters and some expectant surprises. The coming together for the final few chapters is great. Light and fun. Narration good and clear, not overpowering or boring. Looking forward to the next in the series.
"Not disappointing."
I've read the first book before and found that this series is wonderful. and Rosalyn Landor does well with the voices. Historical Romance at it's best!!
"good read, fits well in the triology"
I enjoyed listening to this book. Story line was believable and humourous in places. Great narrator. Would listen o again and purchase more of the authors books after listening to this.
"Outstanding Regency Romance - Story, Characters"
This story had me from the first scene - many twists and turns - excellent characters. Suggest you listen to the mistress series in order - its not necessary but looking back I wish I had as characters are included in subsequent books. If you like Lisa Kleypas you will probably love this story. Some good nail biting, teary scenes where you simply are not sure what will happen next. Totally worth the credit!
