Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want?
But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be, particularly when your roommate's very bad ex-boyfriend wants her back and wouldn't mind you in the process. And especially when he's six feet of sheer supernatural seduction and you've got a demon mark that makes vampires literally hotter than hell.
To save herself and Ivy, Rachel must confront the vampire master - and the dark secrets she's hidden even from herself.
And hear more from the Rachel Morgan series!

"I found a new series"
Im a guy who likes both vampires & detectives. My favorite author/character combo is Robert B. Parker's Spencer series. Im also an Ann Rice fan. This book I got on sale & the following book, Every which way but dead. I have to say it took awhile to get into the characters not having listen to the 1st book. But by half way though I was very interested in where the book was going & all the new type of character that she added to the vampire genre. By the end of the book I was hooked & I went directly to the 3rd book. I love following a character's growth through a serious of books. Im going to enjoy these character's and this serious. "conflicted"
This is the second book I have read from this series. I was a little disappointed with this one, Rachel who is the main character is sometimes just plain stupid just so the author can create drama. Also the narrator has a cold in many chapters and it is a little irritating to hear the nasal clog in her voice. I still recommend it but not as enthusiasticly as book one.
I am easily amused!
"Wickedly entertaining Witch!"
Urban Fantasy at it's best. Reminds me of Jim Butcher's, Harry Dresdan series, but with a tough, likable female lead. The story is complex and layered. I recommend you read the first in the series because the relationships with the characters are an essential part of the charm.
Kim Harrison has built a terrific world with humans and every type of creature/species interacting that makes for a thrilling tale. Rachel is an underdog with a big heart that is loyal to her friends at any cost. You can't help but cheer her on. She is an earth witch living in an old church with her vampire friend Ivy who is fighting to resist her blood urges. Jenks, her pixie friends lives in her gorgeous garden with his wife and multiple kids. Together the three of them have an started an investigation firm. The newest challenge is to find out who is the serial witch killer. Old foes are presented as suspects and Rachel reluctantly aligns herself with the FIB.
By the end of the book discoveries about herself and her father are made, she boosts her reputation, breaks her arm, and has three precarious relationships that will make the next books really interesting. I am a fan!
The first third of the book is a little slow but stick with it and you will be rewarded. The narration on this book is some of the best I have heard. Even though I have a lot of these books in hardback I plan on listening to them because it makes the book even better.
"Great series"
At first I thought this was going to be too silly and I actually turned it off after just a few minutes and listened to something else. Then I didn't have anything else to listen to so I turned it back on. I am on book 4 now and can't wait to listen to the whole series. It is a classic detective story that happens to have supernatual charecters.
"This is going to be my next series to read!"
Books are great and Rachel is an incredible stron female character. Make sure you start with the 1st book though.
"Love it!"
I love this series. I'm not sure what rock I've been hiding under all these years but I'm glad I've come out. These have all been fabulous. I'm not disappointed.
"unexpectedly good"
I like the style in which the author writes. It’s humorous and suspenseful and interesting. I will listen to more books in this series.

Audio books are just my cup of tea!
"Enjoying this series"
This is the second book in a good series. I gave book one 3 stars and this one earned 4 stars. It is a series that drags you in. If you enjoy Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville you will like The Hollows. Listen in order it's important in this series.
Rachel Morgan is an earth witch who gets into trouble with demons and elves. She has two partners in her Runners Service Ivy, a vampire, and Jenks, a pixie. Jenks may be my favorite character. Rachel does not usually understand the consequences of her actions this keeps trouble on her heels.
Marguerite Gavin does a great job as narrator. But I have to say the production quality was not the highest and it seems to get worse as the series goes on.

"I love the stories. But the tool.."
Really enjoying the Kim Harrison series, just wish the rewind worked better. I only want to go a few lines back but end up at the start of the chapter.
Good reader, but her male voices all sound like the same guy.
