Jada left home at the age of sixteen, running from her own demons and the horrors of physical abuse inflicted by her mother’s boyfriend. She partied hard, and life seemed good when she was with Born, the neighborhood kingpin whose name was synonymous with money, power, and respect. But all his love couldn’t save her from a crack addiction. Jada goes from crack addict and prostitute to survivor and back again before she finds the strength to live for herself and come out on top. And her stormy romance with one of the fiercest hustlers on the streets makes White Lines one of the most unforgettable urban love stories of the year.

"A very compelling story"
This was a very compelling and heart warming story of true love and the "everyday" conflicts that can occur and destroy it. The crack epidemic that was the story's back drop was vivid, real-life and told beautifully in this story. I highly recommend this story to all.
"Absolutely loved this book!"
A moving love story.
There were so many memorable moments that I don't want to give the story away, but I will say I love how the author completed each story with just enough detail, leaving no room for questions, all the way to the end. No need for a sequal unless the author just want to continue with the journey.
She brought all of the characters to life, I felt the uniqueness of each one, and I was able to connect with each one.
Love the title, but I guess it could also have been called 'love's journey to redemption and forgiveness.'
I am a new Tracy Brown fan. Ready to read more of her work.
LIFE just happens that way sometimes!
"Amazing Book"
I simply loved this book. After reading this book it helped me reflect on a lot of things that have gone on in my life and the people that have come into and left. True friendship is something you feel from your heart and lives within your soul and this story is the perfect example.
"Amazing story!!!..."could be better" audio"
I truly loved this book! It is an amazing story of two people who eventually find each other and change each other's life forever. Both Born and Jada didn't have the easiest upbringing and in a lot of ways they grew up way too fast. But after listening to the story so many times I noticed that Jada had a disadvantage throughout her young adult life that Born didn't EVER have to encounter which was the lack of at least one parent that gave a damn! I think a lot of what happened to Jada could have been avoided if her mother actively cared about the well being of her children while they were still developing into the people they would ultimately become.
Later in the book after Sunny and Jada have become closer and Sunny's habit is confronted by Dorian, my feelings for Sunny changed a bit. I realized that Sunny truly didn't have Jada's back when it came to the drugs because she didn't reach out to her friend about getting any help with the problem the two friend's had together. We'll never know if Jada ever told Sunny about her past. Ultimately Jada was responsible for her actions and sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom for the lesson to be learned.
I didn't like how the audio seemed to overlap itself throughout book. If I recall correctly it did it like two or three times and when the audio would overlap it was hard to make out what was being said exactly at those points in the book. It didn't ruin the story for me but I definitely would have enjoyed it even more had they not happened.
Overall the story was still great. I love the detail involved in both Born's and Jada's life's story. I laughed, cried, grew angry, as well as anxious while listening to this story. This story is definitely full of emotion. Looking forward to continuing this story!

"GREAT BOOK!"
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end, I cant wait for the next one!!!
"Great story!"
This is an excellent story about the ravages of cocaine use, including crack use, on the lives of two young women, and the men who are dealers and who love them. The narrator's voice takes some getting used to, but soon into the book, I was looking forward to hearing Ms. Johnson narrate this excellent piece of fiction.
When Jada relapsed and no longer cared about her appearance, what others thought, and how she lost the love of her life.
She brings voices of compassion, understanding, surprise, and anxiety. She showed great range of display of emotions that each character exhibited.
No in one sitting, but definitely everyday!
Highly recommended!!
