Dark Possession: Dark Series, Book 18

I found this the best of all the series about the carpathians. I found the first 3 or 4 so similar I questioned whether to buy anymore. They were all basically the hunky carpathian is close to turning into a vampire and he finds his lifemate in the nick of time and then has to convince her that he is the best thing that ever happened to her with a fairly weak story weaving the (very well written)sex scenes together. Dark Possession had a great story line with some twists and turns that made the love story of the two main characters believable and interesting. I am now listening to Dark Curse and am finding this one has a good story line as well. Maybe they will only get better from now on.

This was fast paced and filled with action, danger, humor, romance and excitement. I loved Maryann and Manolito characters. Christine Feehan at her best. I rate this highly along with Dark Demon. I found myself laughing out loud during various scenes in the book. The narrators were great with Jane and Phil reading Manolito and Maryann. This made it more enjoyable and more character driven.

This is by far one of the best in the series. The love scenes are sizzling. I liked the two different readers, they played well off each other. My one minor problem is the mans accent sounded nothing like I imagined it should. He had a posh accent more like he was from England than the Carpathian Mountains ( the "Old world" accent we hear referred to in these books) and what I think would be his prevalent accent, South American, I mean, he has only spent how may centuries in Brazil? Other than that it was great.

I've heard almost all of the Dark series, and I agree with the above comments. I did enjoy having the two narrators, but thought the posh accent odd, and didn't understand why the 'echo' was used in the telepathic conversations.
I did not like the dialogue, or lack of. So much time is spent with internal dialogue, descriptions of the rain forest, maryann's fashioin choices. I feel that most of the female leads show strength, but maryann's lack of insight is irritating.
For a saucy romance, she's good, but i would suggest, reading the series in order. I realize she has to refer to the other characters for ease of story, but really, a lot is wasted on the catching up for people not in the know

Tough question. I have most of Christine's Dark Series in print. What I find is that when we read, I believe a different part of our brain/mind is accessed. The visualization of the story is stronger with reading the print version.However, as someone who was read to as a child, I have always loved being read to, and being able to listen to the audio books is truly a wonderful experience.

MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn's character, while being an extremely intelligent, and strong woman, who is able to help women in emotional need, seems somewhat detached from her own emotional needs and is seems perplexed, by the entire Carpathian Lifemate dynamic. Being a strong woman, she is sure that she would not be able to give up her strength and personal power, (for lack of better words to describe it), and be submissive to the strictures of life that a woman experiences with a Carpathian male. MaryAnn's 'girly' sensibilities, her worries about her designer boots and clothing, her sense of what she thinks she can't live without gradually give way to a transition to the life in a rainforest, the beauty, the dangers, the sense of living life on the edge. To be fair to her, Manolito thrust her into a life that she would never have willingly chosen for herself, (although this is a recurring theme in Christine's books). It seems to me MaryAnn's character was the woman who stepped up and became willing to reach out to rescue Manolito from the half-life, half-death existence he was in.

Personally, I found the beginning of this book very slow-moving and boring. I would have to say thus far, this is one of my least favorite of Christine's Dark Series books.

I loved this story it weaved a historical account of all the brother; making you want to know what happened to them and their lifemates. Did they find her? great

unforunately the plot (boring), the character development (shallow), the settings (not believable) and all the rest- in other words the book itself- just isn't worth the money. Phil Gigante's voice was the only thing that got me to the end of this tedious deux ex machina repeat-o-rama.

first off Phil Gigante could read the phone book and i would listen to it lol.
ok i really enjoyed the story. while i have not read/listened to all of the series i have enjoyed all that i have read. unlike other reviewers, i saw no issues with the characters at all. considering their backgrounds and the "issues" they were dealing with, they were just right. yes they are different but they fit.

This was the first of the dark series that I listened to and I found it very steamy. The two characters made listening very interesting. My only complain would be the time spend between worlds with very little happening. My first reading of Christine Feehan was Dark Descent and I starting to seek out other books by Christine. I am in love with them. I am an avid reading and owns over 140 audiobooks. I plan to purchase and listen/read all the dark series and other books by Christine.

Love the story plot, C. Freehan is a great story teller; audible presentation sucks. Especially the "echoing mind thoughts" and the forced theatrically voice presentation. From this point forward I will read the books.
