Dark Harbor

I've read, or listened to, most of the Stone Barrington books, and I enjoy them simply because I love the characters. The plots are usually quite simplistic, sometimes the conclusions seem abrupt or illogical, and the world in which the characters live is amazingly small (everyone knows everyone else, usually via some law enforcement or federal agency connection). But the characters are so endearing that I'm quite content to just let them do their thing, chatting away, as I look on, not really caring where the latest "case" takes them. I do read more serious detective ficton, such John Sanford's, but there's a time for everything, and Woods is the guy I turn to when I want to relax and just have some fun with Stone, Dino, and the gang.

Nothing new here, just alot of fun with Stone, Arington, Holly, Dino and Lance! Enjoyable, summer fun type reading. Nothing mind blowing but comfortable, like visiting with old friends.

Intriguing but somewhat predictable.

No character development. Loose ends. No suspense or solid plot development.

Usually enjoy suspense-mystery but not this one.

He didn't have much to work with.

Why did Caleb kidnap Holly? Made no sense.

Actually a better than usual Barrington plot. Quite entertaining, good plot though bad guys suspected kind of early in book, and, as usual, Tonly Roberts IS Stone. Love the Stone seies more than Woods other ones, tough they're also entertaining, not quite as envelope pushing though.

This was not my favorite Stuart Woods novel. Although he brought together many favorite characters from past novels, the dialog was too predictable and unrealistic. I've listened to 100's of books and this narrator was the worst I've suffered through.

This book was overall a pretty good book. This is my first title by this author. I was disappointed with the ending. I have become a fan of the James Patterson type endings; the type that ends with a bang. This mystery/thriller lacked both mystery and the thrill at the end. Again, it was still a good book and I would listen to it again.

After reading many Nelson DeMille, Michael Connelly and Vince Flynn novels, this story line was predictable, lacked intrigue and suspense. The narrator was the worst I have heard in over 60 audio books.
