    "good story but painful narration"

Found the story to be one of the better ones of the series, but the narration was painful - the upward inflection at the end of every sentence (especially in the second half of the book) grew ever more of a distraction!

    "Same story, different title"

This has a very similar story line to "Everyday Average Jones" except that it's the hero instead of the heroine who is pushing the other one away. I know there is a need to create some angst in the love story, but the entire book has spent too much time with the main characters running away from each other. I still enjoyed the story - just not as much as some of the others in the series.

A very enjoyable read with the engaging balance of action, romantic context and sexual tension expected of Brockman.

I have an addiction to Audio books. What I can't get at the library, I come to Audible and they are always having a sale. I have way more audiobooks than I could possible listen to in over 3 years, but I can't help but adding to my collection and I read a little of everything but mostly romance and paranormal goodies.

"Same as the other stories in the series."

As much as I liked the Troubleshooter series, this one doesn't come close. I do like this series but I don't love it like I did the Troubleshooters. There is very little action in this series, lots of romance. This book had that flash backwards to explain how they met after it got the main story going, and that isn't my favorite type of writing. Overall the book is the same as the first five in the series, so if you like them, you will like this one. Narration was good.

    "Great Story - disappointing narration."
What made the experience of listening to Hawken's Heart the most enjoyable?

I love this series and this story is so far one of the best.

What didn’t you like about Gabra Zackman’s performance?

The random upward inflection at the end of most of the sentences was so hard to listen to. I got through it by restating the sentences in my mind.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As in all of the stories in this series, I always choke up when the SEALS do their big rescue scenes.

    Any additional comments?

Despite the narration, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys this series by Suzanne Brockmann

"And yet another enjoyable Brockmann book"
Where does Hawken's Heart rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

toward the top with the other SEAL books. I am glad I found this series. It is enjoyable with some action/suspense and of course, a predictable love story entwined.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hawken's Heart?

When they were relieving Daisy's days...can't really go into detail. It was just really heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Have you listened to any of Gabra Zackman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I did. I can't remember her from another book. However, I thought she was ok. I have heard better, but she did well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

In comparison to other Brockmann books, no.

"This is my favorite of the Alpha Squad series!!"

Hawken's parents deserted him at an early age, but thanks to his aunt he comes to know real love and acceptance. That suddenly disappears when she is diagnosed with terminal cancer and his would-be father, the admiral is shot before his eyes. And he is accused of the murder. His aunt's personal assistant, Nell, is the only other person to crack through his protective shell, the shell he needs to both do his job and get through a life of desertion, but while he loves her, he doesn't want to drag her into this life. The men of his gray group squad desert him after the admiral and their captain are shot and everyone believes he did it. But Alpha squad comes through for him through Nell and both the story and the ending are the best yet!

    "Another great SEALS"

I enjoy Brockmann's SEALS series. Lots of action, sex and suspense. Very well done. However, I could do without the subtle and not so subtle political commentaries. I do not read romance novels for political doctrine. Would download Sarah Palin's book if I wanted to spend my recreational readings on politics.
