    "My kind of Christmas romance..."

If you want to listen to an excellent romance story with a Christmas backstory then you must get this audiobook. This book is part of the Virgin River series but it can very well be listened to on its own. It's a beautiful love story of two people that have gone through a lot and found love when they least expected it. I loved how the Christmas theme was incorporated into the story. And I mean the true meaning of Christmas, about helping people in need, about giving back and appreciating your family. This book has become one of my favorite books in the VR series and definitely my favorite Holiday romance.

Narration: another flawless narration by Therese Plummer. She's just the best! I highly recommend this sweet, sexy and wonderful love story with a Christmas theme.

    "Typical Virgin River Book"

I was needing a good story. It is another book that you know the ending right from the start, but that's what Robyn's books are all about. Nice story, listened all day, put me a calm mood and the day just flowed. Now I just have to wait for a longer book, hope it doesn't take too long.

    "Disappointing"

Virgin River books are supposed to be about Virgin River citizens. Naming someone Riordan or making them a Sheridan and plopping them down into the bar is not enough to give them VR status - unless you include updated back story on the characters to whom they are related.

Angie and Patrick are both good characters, but their story didn't need VR to "work." Throwing the ever-annoying Mel into the mix with very little reason didn't do it. I love this series, so I'm willing to forgive quite a bit.

I can't complain about the ending without giving it away, but I will say that wrapping up the story felt like a race to the finish.

My other complaint is that Virgin River, a rural community dependent on deep relationships between neighbors, has generated far too many over-achieving professional women in recent volumes. How many attorneys. savvy businesswomen, doctors, etc. do we need in this tiny town?

The really good characters inevitably move away to find success elsewhere or become names on a list who appear at the bar for a potluck.

My fondest wish is for Mel to roll that Humvee down a ravine so Jack can find himself a new wife I can stand.

    "Predictable Robyn Carr"

Wounded characters come to Virgin River where they find themselves, heal what ails them, fall in love, and everyone mostly lives happily ever after.

There, now you know what happens in this and every Virgin River novel. Having said that, Carr does know how to draw a good set of characters and a great setting and, if you don't feel the need to challenge yourself on any given day, her novels are perfectly suited to not challenging but still entertaining the listener.

Therese Carr narrates these novels very well and listening to her voice makes me think of rich caramel or warm, drawn butter. She has a good range of characters and no distracting vocal habits.

I enjoyed this novel. Not raving but not complaining.

"So boring, I couldn't finish it."

I usually really enjoy the Virgin River books but I didn't really like Angie. I don't know what it was but it just seemed kind of far fetched that a guy like Patrick would find this college student interesting. I was so bored I couldn't finish the book. I tried to read it twice but kept losing interest.

Therese Plummer did an excellent job as usual.

Great characters. Thoroughly enjoyable story, especially at this time of year. I found it difficult to stop listening when I needed to do other things.

    "Loved it !!!!"
What made the experience of listening to My Kind of Christmas the most enjoyable?

Ever since I started listening to this audio I could not stop! I really wanted to know the story, but felt really sad when I realized it was coming to an end. In this story two people who have suffered a traumatic experience in life go to a place to be alone and think about life, and, as expected they fall for each other. But things are not that simple because each one of them has different plans for the near future and all the odds point to the fact that this thing they got themselves into won't last, especially and the family of both of them don't approve.
The author did a wonderful job by keeping us hooked during the whole story. He doesn't spend pages and pages to actually show something interesting and catching. The whole book keeps you hooked, from the first page to the very last. The narrator did a very good job as well. As I said: I just loved it!

"Promise to dead friend almost ruins future love"
Would you consider the audio edition of My Kind of Christmas to be better than the print version?

    No idea

Who was your favorite character and why?

Angie was my favorite because she had been through and overcome a horrible accident. She is a very strong character but does not recognize her own strength. Virgin River has many strong people living there and the Sheridan and Riordan familys are both large and full of life. She has to be strong just to survive her own family,

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She knows all the characters in this series as she has done most of the books and brings all of them to life so well. She has developed voices for all of them and you can recognize them by their inflection. Does men's and women's voices equally well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but started it late and had to finish it the next morning.

I've become a late in life lover of reading. For years there was nothing I really enjoyed except for movies. My daughter got me to read Twilight and there the love affair begins. Movies of books rarely compare to the experience of reading. Just can't get enough. Who'da thought!

"What a way to spend some snowy nights!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, Therese Plummer is masterful at changing her voice to pull inso many characters and with so many people that have developed overthe years in Virgin River you need a great narrator. The story is perfect for a cold winter, a great imagination, a small cabin surrounded by woods, a handsome military man, and an enormous Christmas tree. What more could a girl ask for?

What other book might you compare My Kind of Christmas to and why?

Any of the other wonderful Virgin River Christmas stories.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Diversity of the many characters. Each character seems to have their owntraits that instantly identify them in the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    It made me smile often.

    Any additional comments?

Do yourself a favor and crawl into bed with Virgin River.
I would have given it a 4.5 if I could.
