What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets...
A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London's most exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do whatever it takes to regain his inheritance - including marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury.
A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet, comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How lucky that her new husband has access to an unexplored world of pleasures.
Bourne may be a prince of London's illicit underworld, but he vows to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness - a challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own desires, and her willingness to wager anything for them... even her heart.

"light and entertaining"
I bought this book primarily because of the narrator...Rosalyn Landor. What surprised me was the author,i found this a light read. Easy to follow. It was funny at times and the characters were great. I can't wait for the next book on Cross. I hope Landor will pick up from where she left of!

"Worth the credit."
Typical 'rogue type' book - come on - you know what you're getting with these type of books. Made better by the good narration of Rosalyn Landor.
Devotee of multi-tasking, keen gardener and cross-stitcher. Now able to do both AND listen to stories at the same time. Bliss.
"First in The First Rule of Scoundrels series"
Not a story to tax your brain too much, but it was enjoyable despite moments when I wanted to give the hero a good kick for being idiotic. I'll be keen to see the next story in this series, but it looks like we have quite a wait as 'One Good Earl Deserves a Lover' isn't due to be published until early in 2013. As always, Rosalyn Landor is awesome narrating.
"An Expected Outcome...."
I love this author and wish that her "Love by Numbers" trilogy was available on audio. A Rogue by Any Other Name was a solid, well done historical romance, which delivered exactly what is expected: sighs and a lovely HEA. A good listen. Having said that, I think the epilogue was better than the rest of the book. I've pre-ordered the next book in the series and think (based on the epilogue alone) that it will be even better than Rogue. It's an automatic purchase if it comes out as an audiobook.
“I love all genres of books, however when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
""Better than Expected!""
I loved this story! I really thought this would be another "bad boy gets tamed" but it was much more. The characters relationship has a sweet history that brings forth the fact they have actually been in love for years! Great love scenes and supporting characters. I am looking forward to the next novel and hope to see more Sarah MacLean on Audible! Rosalyn Landor is an excellent reader making each chararter sound individual. I can't wait for the next installment.
"I LOVE!!!"
Yes! Because I like the way this story was narrated!
Bravo Penelope! For outsmarting the wicked man!!!!
When Penelope beat the vilain in a game of 21 (ahahah)!!!!
When Penelope was left in the front room of a new house sitting alone on a trunk for her wedding night. That was crude!
Never judge a book by its movie
"Nice Story, Fantastic Narrator"
it's in the top 20.
The Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas.
However, Maclean's - Bourne (the Rogue) has a lot less charm than Kleypas' St. Vincent.
Both heros are misunderstood outcasts, but St. Vincent seemed to have a bit more depth.
I just love her voice, she has such depth and tone, and brings al the characters to life.
People who like Lisa Kleypas, will like this book. Well worth the credit.
Enjoy!!!
"The very best romance novel I have downloaded"
I love Sarah MacLean. This book was the first of hers I listened to and now I am hooked. Thank you Sarah and Audible!
I'm addicted to audiobooks. I've listened to probably 300 (maybe more) audiobooks most of which are historical romances. Listening is much easier than reading and you can do other things while listening. When reading you can't do anything but read.
"I Loved it!"
I think that this book rates near the top of the books that I've listened to. I would have given the story and overall ratings 5 stars, but I thought that there was just one too many arguments rehashing why Michael should not ruin Tommy and a little too much of Michael's internal self doubt about what he deserved or didn't deserve.
I did enjoy this book and I will listen to it again and again! Sarah MacLean is an excellent writer. I can't wait for the next books in this series!!!!
I like every character performed by Rosalyn Landor. She is by far my favorite narrator. Love her! She ensures that every character has it's own voice and she always makes all characters believable.
I love to read! With kids, that hobby is impossible...enter Audible...problem solved. Chores that I dread are now quiet time for this Mommy!!!
