Number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals....
All fear the enemy of old.
Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness - until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.
A deadly force dwells within her.
Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder - or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.
Centuries of cold indifference shattered.
Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past - or risk everything for a future with her?

"Amazing Book"
This book was amazing! One of the best books I ever heard/read. The narrator is the best male narrator on Audible (and I've listened to a lot of books). One thing though... why would you tempt us with such awesome stories by only publishing books 1 and 12 on audible (where are books 2-11).
"More Kresley Cole Please!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I have read her earlier books, but these are out of the world. For someone who suffers from migraines, Audible is a lifesaver.
"Ended too soon..."
Wow, such a good story, though some of the "naughty" talk was a bit eye-roll worthy. Still, I would have paid full price for this one.

"COULDN'T STOP LISTENING!!!!"
Well I've just finished this fantastic book and I feel it was well worth losing a weekend over. It had everything - hot handsome sexy vampire, good story, great narrator, steamy love scenes and of course romance - what more can you ask for.
Never stop writing Kresley and let's have more books by her on Audible please please please 'cause there's a chunck of books missing in the series.
"INTENSE!"
I couldn't wait for this book to come out. This is one of those books that you would stay up throughout the night to listen, although you have to go to work the next day. The Romance was intense!. 5+ stars.
"Love it!!!!!!"
He is fantastic!! Will listen to anything he reads.
Listened to it from start to finish in one sitting, will be listening to it again!
I wish all IAD books were on audible, I would buy them all
"Great story with a FANTASTIC narrator!"
This is not Longfellow- but it's entertaining and anyone who enjoys the genre will get what they are seeking in Kresley Cole's work. For the uninitiated- this series includes graphic sex and some violence but not to excess. The sex and violence are simply elements of the story arch and are by no means the focus. There is a good degree of character development without overburdening the reader with useless detail. The humor is non formulaic and well suited to compliment each character making each personality distinct from one another. Of particular note is the fact that the female protag is not a simpering air head incapable of making rational decisions. In fact, to date all the female characters I have encountered in this series have considerable backbone to compliment their femininity rather than stand in contrast to it.
Robert Petkoff's narration is fantastic. He brings all the characters out individually and negotiates accents with a great deal of aplomb- especially Lothaire's. He reads females without sounding ridiculous and makes clear distinctions between characters and personalities in a way that sounds and feels effortless to the listener. He is now one of my favorite narrators and I will actively seek more work recorded by him.
Overall it was well written, well read and well produced.
"Kresley Cole does it again!!!"
I have read or listen to all the books in this series and Kresley Cole always brings her A game to each story. They are fun, brave, suspenseful and outrageous. Any one who has been waiting will be pleased.I had used up my credits and had to pay membership price but it will worth it.Robert Petkoff was a fabulous Lothaire( the enemy of old).
I the story takes you on a journey with two very flawed but interesting character, very human in their misunderstandings.
I enjoyed my book vacation!
"Totally Credit Worthy"
It seems like I've been waiting forever of Lothaire's story but the wait was worth it. The only down side was the sex scenes, they had me giggling with all the very un-sexy chit-chat.
"Loved It"
Great narration. I like to list this first as it can make or break a story.
