Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller whisks listeners away to 1910 Arizona for the fifth romance in her Stone Creek series. Determined to honor an old promise, an undercover investigator struggles to shield a childhood friend from danger while resisting the pristine allure of the woman she’s clearly become. But he may have underestimated the distraction of having such a fair maiden so near—and the tenacity of a ruthless villain.

    "Just ok..."

This book just seems to drag on and on rather than entertain. I love the narration, but he can only do so much with a story that is lackluster. The usually spark and humor that exists between the characters in a LLM novel just isn't there. I was disappointed.

    "Disappointed."

I felt there was way too much repetition throughout this whole book. I enjoyed her earlier Stone Creek novels, and looked forward to reading (hearing) this one. My thoughts as I listened were, "Please, just get on with the story..... you've already told me this part too many times."

    "Great Romance!"

This is a well-written and sensuous romance. How entertaining to hear Linda Lael Miller's words come to life through Jack Garrett's perfect naration.

"Good story - Spoiled by Narration"

This is a typical Linda Lael Miller story - predictable, but fun and entertaining. A quick, enjoyable read. Unfortunately, the narrator spoiled it - he made all of the females sound like little old ladies or children. Garrett would be much better off just reading the book and forgetting the inflections. Unfortunately, he appears to be the narrator on all of Miller's most recent publications.
