High in the mountains, deep in the safety of a cave, a brood of dragons is born. The four young ones are among the last of a dying breed - the final hope for dragons' survival. But hope shatters when a murderous group of slave-trading dwarves breaks into the cave, leaving death and destruction in its wake.
Only young Auron, a rare scaleless gray dragon, manages to escape. Armed with nothing save wit, claws, and a boundless determination to survive, he seeks his kind. But to find other dragons - or at least discover who's killing them off - Auron will have to search a world of mercenary elves, vicious humans, and dangers of all kinds. Winning allies in the strangest places - and finding himself along the way - Auron embarks on the journey of a thousand-year lifetime.

"Dragon lover of old. . . .reborn"
I have always loved books about dragons. I've read the Pern series, the DragonKnight books, The Dragon Prince series, etc., so I am no stranger to these types of books. Lately however, I had wandered away from these books to explore other nooks and crags of the literary world. Nothing has drawn me in like the books I read in my youth. So, in a desperate night of searching audible for an enjoyable, enthralling listen I stumbled upon Dragon Champion.
First off, let me be clear here in that I have yet to finish the listen (I'm about 3/4 of the way through) but have already downloaded the second book in the series!
It has rekindled my love for these books. I listen to this book in the morning as soon as I awake and get ready for my day and at night as I am winding down. The story is gripping and the narration superb.
If your a dragon lover like I am (as I write this I have 5 dragon figurines on my desk watching over me) go ahead and spring for the download, your inner dragon will break free and soar!
"A Surprising but Satisfying Change"
This book was great and as I write this review I'm downloading the second book. I've loved dragons since I was a young child my aunt used to bring all these different dragon figurines for my room and a kite that even now hangs above my bed. I've read the Dragon Riders of Pern, the Dragon Keeper series ,the Inheritance Cycle and more but this is one of the few times I've listened or read a book that is focused mainly on a dragons perspective of the world its a change for me but I love it and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series (not literally of course).
"Good book"
The story is engaging. The characters are interesting. The reader is excellent, with great voice characterizations.
I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.
I am a registered nurse and a father of four great kids. I live in a rural part of Oregon and love it. I enjoy books, but Sci-Fi Fantasy has allows been the ones I reach for more than others.
"Only the fittest are worthy"
Yes, I have plans to continue with EE Knights sequels in the future. The story was good and who doesn't love dragons and other mythical creatures.
Yes, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sci-fi Fantasy Epic Novels. Especially ones who have the potential to grow into a great series.
Brilliant, Dramatic, and Clear-Worded.
I feel this could be turned into a great Disney or Pixar animated movie easily.
Any person involved in Hobbit or Lord of the Rings could voice over the characters easily.
"Highly Recommend"
Written in the tradition of Watership Downs and the Big Red series of animal adventures. This series is written from the Dragon's perspective. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series.
"Wonderful Story"
A story from the dragon's point of view. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book.
"Auron, an unlikely Champion!"
Yes
Auron, an unlikely dragon and hero.
Auron was because his voice seem to fit the dragon.
Auron, an Unlikely Dragon becomes a Hero.
"very pleasant distractiom"
Yes

All and they are all good except the last one. Not. A stand alome book
Good. Book. Part of a series which i generally dislike for personal reasons however this series naturally fit a series style must be read in order
"Intriguing, but the writing was not for me"
Yes, especially of the Young Adult section. The way this book was written and the stories and characters left as loose ends were frustrating to me. I prefer deeper writing, but the overall story is interesting. Anyone not looking for that deep connection to the characters but wants an interesting dragon story that's not the usual, you'll have a fun journey.
"Lots of excitment and action"
yes, because it is an interesting book and he does a good job telling the story
none its the first dragon book I've read I like magical stuff and thinking back to older times so I figured I would try it out
no
