The Ghost

"The Ghost" is a most satisfying thriller, just the thing for holidays or long journeys when you have time to sit back and enjoy, because you will definitely want to keep on listening. The plot keeps you guessing and the narrator Michael Jayston is, as always, just right. He keeps the characters well defined and the pace comfortable.

It doesn't take very long for bells to start ringing and you realise how very contemporary this story actually is; I was unaware, before beginning to listen, how controversial this book had been.

First class entertainment, leaving you with the bonus of some interesting theories to ponder - highly rcommended.

I really enjoyed this one - I found excuses to put the headphones on. The book is reasonably short for this kind of story, and I found that this kept the pacing good. Our Hero does not do anything idiotic, and the ending gives you that "ahhh, that makes sense" feeling - two things I rate highly in a mystery book. The narration was excellent, bumping this one up to 5 stars.

I wouldn't describe this as a bad book but it's not among the Audiobooks that I have really enjoyed. I found the story line a little boring & Michael's narration not up to his usual high standard.

The ghost writer is very well portrayed and I found him a very sympathetic character. The other characters were very much secondary and much less likable. The prime minister was realistic in his general demeanour and lack of actual talent. This simple story did have some unexpected twists and I felt that Harris delivered his story well.

The synopsis is a bit misleading, this is a 'tricksy' plot.
Engaging from first to last words. Well read by Michael Jayston.
Now this is better to listen to at your own pace. Forget your train or car commute. I downloaded this morning, and have finished listening this evening. It is that kind of story.
