Winona, the oldest, knew early on that she could never get it. An overweight dreamer and reader, she didn't exhibit the kinds of talents and strengths her father valued.
Vivi Anne, the youngest, had those things. And it was Vivi Anne who only ever saw a glimmer of their father's approval.
When Vivi Anne makes a fateful decision to follow her heart, rather than take the route of a dutiful daughter, events are set in motion that will test the love and loyalties of the Grey sisters.
With breathtaking pace and penetrating insight, Kristin Hannah's True Colors is a novel about sisters, vengeance, rivalry, betrayal - and ultimately, what it truly means to be a family.

"Well written, POORLY narrated... :("
I strongly agree with other reviewers that this book is poorly narrated. While Kristin Hannah is a SUPERB author, Sandra Burr totally took a wonderful story and BUTCHERED it !!! I have well over 100 downloads from Audible and for the most part have enjoyed all of them, but if given the chance again, I wouldn't pay $1.00 for it ! In the past Susan Ericksen has narrated some of Ms. Hannah's books and I so wish she had done this one!!! Some of the adult characters have "baby-like" voices, and it's hard to imagine an adult in them.. DO NOT BUY IT !!! This download comes in 2 parts, and half-way thru part 1, I abandoned it !!!
"Outstanding Book"
A well written and heart touching book. Thoroughly enjoyed it, while the theme of false imprisonment was tough. Read very ably by Sandra Burr.

"Poor narration and trite plot"
I couldn't make it very far in this book...the narrator's voice drove me crazy, especially when in the voice of Winona. I also found the characters and plot very predictable and stereotypical. I've read this author in the past but won't do so again, and will definitely avoid the narrator!
"Am I missing something?"
The reviews said it was great so I thought I'd try it. This is one of the simplest books I've half-way listened to (I quit about half-way through part 1.). It's so silly and one-sided and the narrator's voice for the oldest sister makes her sound like a whiney, baby chipmunk. If you like a book with some kind of substance and plot, pass on this one.
"Sisters"
Another great book by Kristin Hannah. I am a big fan and this book had me crying, laughing and yelling, sometimes all at the same time. The relationships between the sisters is very real. The emotions at times are raw and I was so disappointed at the turn of events, that I almost stopped listening, but the characters were so intriguing that I had to continue. I am glad that I did. The narrator did a good job with the voices and I was able to easily tell the characters apart. When I completed the audiobook, I felt like I knew them all and grew with them over the time period of 15 or so years. Good story.
"Fantastic!"
This book was exceptional. It was a great story of three very different sisters growing up together. Great Listen!
"A little long but good"
This was a little long and predictable but it was an enjoyable story and I loved following the lives of the individual sisters. Definitely a good lesson here when you see how the lives of the three sisters changes over the years. Well worth the time spent listening!
"Very good Book!"
I loved this book. It was a great story and kept you guessing till the end.
"Dragged On"
This was a story that never seemed to end. The sisters went back and forth between being close-knit and bitter enemies for far too long. I could not figure out if the nasty father figure was going to be implicated in wrong-doing or was just an emotional dwarf that added little to the story. The main character vacilated between being a whiny, self-pitying jerk and a strong protagonist for herself and her nephew. And I won't even bother about the silliness of all of the love angles for each of the sisters.
This is the first book of Kristin Hannah I have been disappointed with. Firefly Lane was wonderful. Winter's Garden was even better!! Mystic Lake has more solid literary interest than this book. I am not giving up on Hannah as her strong female characters make her a worthwhile author.
"Poorly read"
No - she reads like the adults are little kids. Not going to waste my time with her reading again. Sorry
