Since her mother's murder, Claire has done everything possible to make a safe, secure life for herself in a city where danger lurks on every street corner, especially in the dark of night. But nothing can prepare her for the powerful and sexually magnetic medieval warrior who sweeps her back into his time: a treacherous, frightening world where the hunters and the hunted are one and the same. Claire needs Malcolm to survive, yet she must somehow keep the dangerously seductive Master at arm's length. For Malcolm's soul is at stake, and fulfilling his desires could prove fatal.

"The incomparable Brenda Joyce soars to new heights. A passionate, original paranormal romance that sets the standard for hot, other worldly lovers!" (Romantic Times)
"sex is great - but the rest stinks!"
overall, the sex is great but the problem is that you have to listen to the whole thing to get any. horrible book! dont bother because there is not enough sex to make up for a lousy story and the main female character is an idiot!
"I enjoyed it all"
I enjoyed this book and will listen to it again at a later date. The story was not confusing to me, the characters engaged my interest and I liked the story. By the end it even answered a few of points I was wondering if they were going to go unanswered. I cant say what becuase that would spoil some of the twists for some! I enjoyed it and if you like time travel novels, think most will like this one.
"Don't waste your points on this one"
Between the bad narration and ridiculous plotline I was seriously displeased I didn't read the reviews on this first. What a waste of my time!
"Would love to hear another narrator do this one!"
The book is fine. It is the narrator that is terrible. I will not buy another audible book that is narrated by Marguerite Jennings. All of the characters sound the same. Some are just worse than others. Usually, I can't put a book down. But this one is a chore. Ms Joyce's work deserves better.
"Time traveling Highlanders!"
I loved the last Brenda Joyce audible download, A Lady At Last, and this one was very different from her other historicals but just as good. For those of you disappointed with Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever this book satisfy your taste for hot magical Highlanders. Very steamy, very imaginative story. Thanks Brenda Joyce!
"a complete waste of time"
As a fan of Diana Gabaldon and Karen Marie Moning, I had high hopes for this to be an enjoyable book. Claire has to be one of the most irritating and unlikable characters ever. I've never been in a position before where I actually wished the main character dead. This book delivered that unique experience. Malcolm deserved a much better love interest - his character was much more interesting and likable.
"Narrator nasty"
The narrator reads likes she's on sedatives and her brogue is particularly odd - since when did Scots speak with a Cockney mixed with some sort of weird Philadelphia accent?
"Decent book"
I liked this book. It kept my interest the whole time I listened. I did think the end had a bit much going on. I think it could have ended a chapter or two earlier. The end seems like the author tired to cram to much in. I always enjoy time travel novels and find that this one did a decent job without getting to technical.
"I HATE TIME SWEPT"
THIS IS A TIME TRAVEL NOVEL WHICH I HATE. SOMETIMES I LAUGHED OUT LOUD WHEN IT WAS NOT MEANT TO BE FUNNY, HOWEVER I WOULD RECCOMEND THIS BOOK BECAUSE FOR MAGIC,SEX,ROMANCE, ESCAPISM AND TIME FOR YOUR MONEY ITS A GOOD DEAL. SHE IS A GREAT AUTHOR AND STILL TOLD A GOOD STORY.
"A Real Let-Down"
I've read many of her books and really enjoyed them. However, this was not one of them. The plot was confusing and the characters difficult to "get to know." I usually listen to my audiobooks within a day or two, I've been trying to get through this story for almost two weeks and have given up. A real disappointment.
