Nick Gentry is reputed to be the most skillful lover in all England. Known for solving delicate situations, he is hired to seek out Miss Charlotte Howard. He believes his mission will be easily accomplished – but that was before he met the lady in question.
For instead of a willful female, he discovers one in desperate circumstances, hiding from a man who would destroy her very soul. So Nick shockingly offers her a very different kind of proposition – one he has never offered before. He asks her to be his bride.
And he knows that this will be much more than a union in name only. For he senses what Charlotte does not yet know – that her appetite for sensuality matches his own. But what Nick learns surprises him. For while London’s most notorious lover might claim Charlotte’s body, he quickly discovers it will take much more than passion to win her love.

I've become a sucker for Audible. I love audiobooks, to the point of addiction. Especially a good romance audiobook... :)
"Lisa Kleypas is amazing. Great novel."
I hate reading "another great book". Instead i want to say that I have more praise for Lisa Kleypas than I ever thought possible. I have the tendency to treat romance novels as "low brow" entertainment. That's my ignorant and self conscious problem. Lisa Kleypas writes for my own heart!
This book is fantastic. Lady Sopia's Lover is my favorite of Kleypas books. This is the story of Nick Gentry, Sophia's brother. Definitely read the other first.
I can say I like these books most of all.
These characters are wonderful. And the story is engrossing, as all Kleypas novels seem to be!!
Read lady Sophia, then this. You wont regret it!
I read so I can write
"Amazing finish"
This was an amazing finish to an amazing series. Kleypas at her best. Fantastic characters and story. Can't wait to listen to it a second time. Nick and Lottie make a great couple and the tension of the story lasts to final chapter.
"Gotta love Lisa Kleypas!"
The 3rd book in the Bow Street Runners series does not disappoint. This book is all about the relationship of Nick Gentry, reformed (or is he?) former thief taker and current Bow Street Runner, and Miss Charlotte Howard, on the run from the disgusting man that her parents promised her hand to. Full of romance, steamy sex scenes, fun dialog, and plot twists, I found this book really fun to listen to! I am so disappointed that there are no more stories in this series. Thanks to Lisa Kleypas for another fun historical romance.
"Creepy Narrator.... Almost Ruined the book for me."
Her voice for Nick is extremely creepy. I could hardly stand to listen to the rest of the book. Thought I would warn others before they bought this book. Great Story... Poor Narration. The end :)
Never judge a book by its movie
"Definitely Worth the Credit."
I actually really like the back stories of both characters. Both having to live lives that were not of their own choice.
Loved Nick Gentry!!! 1860's Bad Boy with a heart of gold.
( Picture Richard Armitage in MI 5)
Nick Gentry and
his brother - in law - Sir Ross Cannon (From Lady Sophia's Lover)
When Nick revels his story to Charlotte. It was so moving.
This is Book 3 of the Kleypas's Series " Bow Street". A fantastic Series...
Book 1 "Someone to Watch Over Me" ( which was not made into an audio book) was my favourite of the Series.
Enjoy
"Narrator ruined the story for me"
Just a personal preference but I found it very irritating that most of the story is told in a hushed/whispered/breathless voice. It did get better as it went and I can see how others may enjoy a breathy voice, for me it detracted from the story.
"Well.."
ehhh.. its ok. I like the story line but I have read better.
the story line itself
No. I dont like her. Why is the guy she portrays always whispering? It was so annoying and I had to force myself not to stop listening.
Get a better performer like Natalie Ross!
mainly read romances and books for a book club that take me all over the map.
"An Alpha Male Learning to Love"
An excellent story. Set in a historical time period many have written about, the plot line itself is unlike anything I have read before. Kleypas has the skill necessary to pull off this uncommon story line and keep the romance alive throughout.
"Predictable, historical romance...... 3+ stars"
Its been a while since I read a true historical romance novel, and this book was very representative of the typical components. It was well written, and the narrator did a very good job with the text. However it was very predictable with a creepy old guy, and the recalcitrant heroine who wants everyone to like her just the same. Queue the hero with the tainted past who saves her.....and together they are restored to their well-deserved status within society.
But still...... if this is your "cup of tea", and you're looking for a bit of mild escapism, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this story.

"Wow! My favorite."
Yes, it was one of the most sensuous books by Lisa.
Susan did an excellent job in creating the heat between the two main characters.
The bathing scene comes to mind.
