A prim, well-bred gentlewoman, Sara Fielding is a writer who puts pen to paper to create dreams. But now curiosity is luring her from the shelter of her country cottage into the dangerous world of Derek Craven – handsome, tough, and tenacious – and the most exciting man Sara has ever met.
Derek rose from poverty to become the wealthy lord of London's most exclusive gambling house. And now duty demands that he allow Sara Fielding to enter his perilous realm of ever-shifting fortunes – with her impeccable manners and her infuriating innocence. But there is a hidden strength and sensuality to the lady that captivates him beyond his better judgment. And in this world, where danger lurks behind every shadow, even a proper “mouse” can be transformed into a breathtaking enchantress – and a cynical gambler can be shaken to his core by the power of passion and the promise of love.

"Love it!"
I love Lisa Kleypas. And the narrator does the mans voice so great. Makes cleaning and laundry day go much faster.

"Outstanding"
Once again, Lisa Kleypas and Rosalyn Landor have out done themselves. I found myself in dismay that the book would end. I will surely listen to it again and again.
Audio-addict!!
"Worthy of the hype. Truly wonderful story."
I don't need to write too much here, as this is a highly beloved and acclimed Kleypas novel. So I'll give my experience with the audio book.
The book that is before this one: I believe it's Then came You, with Alec and Lilly, was one of my Kleypas favorites.
I went straight on to listen to this and couldn't get into it at first. I had Kleypas burn-out: I had listened to nearly evey audible book she authored, and all in one month... So I took a couple of months reading other authors, and finally came back to this. It really annoyed me that the one book I didnt get into was such a favorite for everyone else. I was left out :) Most Kleypas reviewers, authors, readers, etc considered Dreaming of You to be their favorite novel. So 3 or 4 months later, I find myself so silly and in love with this story . It's heartbreakingly sweet, sensual, interesting, enchanting, just a fantastic read!
Lisa kleypas never dissapoints me. But this stands out. And together with Rosalyn Landors, this is the romance dream team... :) Seriously Landors IS the voice of most of my favorite characters. Even The Bride...
Highly recommended. I would start with "Then Came You" (prequel about Lily and Alec. One of my three favorite LK books) then read this. What a treat.
"THE BEST!!"
This is one of the best stories I have read, and by far the best audio. I have listened to this audio at least 7 times! I just keep coming back to it. I can only think of one book that I have read over my 15 years of reading romance, that I can truely say these same words. And that is Island Flame by Karen Robards. I really love these male heros.
"Love Love Loved it!"
This is the first book I have read by Lisa Kleypas and I am going back for more.
"Will do the trick if you're addicted to Kleypas..."
If you're addicted to Kleypas, then you must do what you must. But this book is not as brilliant as any in the Hawthorne or Wallflower series. The original pub date was early 90s and I'd guess it was written before K got her groove. The hero is a little too conflicted, though still sexy. Heroine likable enough. Rosalyn does a great job narrating. So, again, does it in a pinch, especially if you've already listened to Devil in Winter four times....
no. would recommend others before this one.

"One of her Best"
I adored this book. It is now one of my favorites. These characters have depth, you care for them. The plot was never slow or boring. It grabbed my heart and held it to the end. I will listen to this one again and again.
Lisa Kleypas is amazing and Rosalyn Landor reads her with perfection. Enjoy!
"My favorite"
"Dreaming of You" is far and away not only my favorite Lisa Kleypas book but my favorite Historical Romance as well. I am not overly in love with the narrator, I have never felt that Sara had a posh voice, and Dareck most certainly didn't. I felt as if the narrator just used her stalk "voice" and didn't think it through.
However it still gets a full 5 star rating as the story line and intense characters more then make up for any lack on the narrators part.
"Great book!"
Great characters and the story is mostly believable. I love that Derek is far from perfect & doesn't magically transform into something he isn't. Of course, it does have an over the top finale that seem to be commonplace in Kleypas novels, but still a great read. Narration is enjoyable as well.
Mother of 3, grandmother of 6, retired nurse and substance abuse counselor. Thrilled to have the time to read or listen to books again.
"another winner"
Ms. Kleypas has a real talent for writing love stories that grab your interest and keeps it through out the entire book. I also just love how she writes a different book about every character in her series, how each of them have to earn their happily ever after. I rate all her books at least a 4 star rating with the exception of the 2 Russian books which I felt didn't quite measure up to her usual standard. I always look for her books when perusing my wish list and hers are usually the first that go into my cart. This book was especially sweet as I was drawn to Derrick when I read Lilly's story and wondered what she would do with his character.
I throughly enjoyed the book, another good job Ms. Klepas and of course no fault can ever be found with the narrator Rosalyn Landor.
