Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin are two of the sassiest hairdressers in Salt Lick, Texas. But these two spunky ladies do more than spice up the do's of their gossipy patrons. They also moonlight as the Domestic Equalizers, P.Is. with the best hair in the Lone Star State.
Not ones to turn down a juicy assignment, Debbie Sue and Edwina get involved in a case of missing horses - and may very well make or break the budding romance between a spoiled rich girl and the town's handsome veterinarian.

"The fun of reading Cash (pseudonym for two Texan sisters) rests on impudent dialogue between women, pearls of Lone Star wisdom ("You can put a pair of boots in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits") and the knowledge that Cash heroines always get their man, good or bad." (Publishers Weekly)
"Lot's of fun"
Dixie Cash is almost as much fun as Janet Evanovich and "My Heart May Be Broken, But My Hair Still Looks Great" is one of the best of all of her novels. It includes some great belly laughs.
"Dixie Cash ~ What a Hoot!"
I love this writer. Great sense of humor. Good story lines, characters, dialogue. Looking forward for the next new release.
"Laugh your A## Off"
Yes!!!
When Edwina rode the horse through the woods.
Yes, I actually had to pull over to the side of the road I was laughing so hard I couldn't drive.

"Compliments from a Texas Girl"
This review is really for all 3 Dixie Cash books I've read so far. These are so funny, they are what I call, "be careful or you will have to change pants" funny. I really LOVE these books and can't wait to download the one after this that I have purchased. My days are so much more fun and my smile is even brighter than before when I am listening to one of their books. I don't want them to end and can't wait for the next one, which I hope is forthcoming. Being a Texas girl misplaced into Nevada, I love hearing books that sound like home.
Please keep up the good work and keep writing. I love all the characters so keep bringing them back, too.
"Surprisingly fun and a really good read"
The characters start out being unsympathetic -- well, silly and somewhat stereotypical -- but the author managers to turn them into real people you care about. The story is set in Texas, with the pretty rich girl and the former college football star. The author is making fun of the stereotypes of Texas. I grew up in Texas, so it was really fun to read. But the author clearly loves Texas and turns the stereotypes on their heads.
The book is not a suspense thriller with action and heroics, but the story is surprisingly compelling and you really want to find out how the plot unfolds and how the story turns out. There is a mystery in the plot, but it unfolds against the character development. It's secondary to the relationship of the rich girl and the former football player.
She has a perfect Texas accent and captures the personalities of the characters. The narrator brings the characters to life.
Yes.
The plot of the book is surprising and different. It's not what I expected. I downloaded the book because of the reviews -- they were good -- but when I first started to listen, I thought it was going to too light and silly for my tastes. But I kept listening, and suddenly I found myself really caring about spoiled Daddy's little rich girl. This is not your usual heroine.
"More romance than mystery"
I'm sure this is a delightful and funny story. However, it is not my cup of tea. I'm giving it 3 stars because I like mysteries and not romance novels. After 8 chapters and no dead body I lost patience.
"Keeps you guessing"
I felt a bit left out as the rustling went on without a tip as to who it was. I finally started to picture it cinematically, as a silhouette in the dark of the night during each incident. That helped keep it in it's place. The rest of the story, LOL, you'll have to read it! It's on par with the best of the Domestic Equalizers. You will find it takes them a little longer to get involved because some important characters have to end up in Salt Lick before things can barrel along to the conclusion. It's worth the wait!
