The novella begins with a young man, Candide, who is living a sheltered life in an Edenic paradise and being indoctrinated with Leibnizian optimism (or simply optimism) by his tutor, Pangloss. The work describes the abrupt cessation of this existence, followed by Candide's slow, painful disillusionment as he witnesses and experiences great hardships in the world.

"Really good reader"
I had to read this for school and this audiobook made the book very enjoyable. The reader did a very good job.
"I recommend it"
It was very good sound quality. The narrator did a good job doing the voices of the characters. It saved me several hours of reading by putting it on my Ipod.
