The Bible: The New Testament: The King James Version

This audiobook of the New Testament was very well done indeed. Gregory Peck, I thought, did a marvelous job at reading the sometimes difficult language of the King James version of the Bible. Excellent job. No music during the readings. Only at the end of books and sometimes chapters.

While listening through this audiobook, my mind became more familar with the Olde English of the KJV. Now when I read the KJV, I hardly have any trouble with the language. And once your mind is comfortable with the Olde English, the KJV reads better than any version out there.

The quality of the audiobook is very good at level 4. The Audiobook downloads in 3 parts. Beautifully Done!

Audiofile may think that the performance is "tired", but Peck's reading of the New Testament is exactly what I wanted. No musical score, no cast of thousands; no overblown, Shakespearean dramatization. Just God's word, read clearly and simply. Gregory Peck was a fine choice, and I never tired of hearing his voice.

My only problem has been that the Bible doesn't seem to lend itself well to the audio format. It's too slow for casual listening in the less interesting parts, and it's too fast for serious contemplation.

The only reason I rate this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would prefer the NIV or even the NKJV over the KJV, but this is the only version that Audible carried at the time. The KJV is especially difficult in audio because the unclear language often requires some time to work through.

Just voice. The word stands alone. No music or artistic to-do needed. And what a voice! Gregory Peck is wonderful in his reading. I would love to hear James Earl Jones read the New Testament and was thrilled to see it was available until I read in the reviews there was piano music in the background. I don't want that. One thing, I can't read this all the way through in one time period. I've been listening over about 6 months, and may listen again. Recommended!

Powerfully narrated Bible text. Robust & clear audio, by one of the best narrators of all time. I only wish Gregory Peck had narrated the Old Testament as well. Alas, it will never be.

I think Mr. Peck's reading is excellent. I only wish Audible would provide equally good readings of a modern translation; I prefer the New American Standard or the English Standard Version.

Obviously I'm not going to comment on the content. The production was great. You couln't ask for a better reader for the Bible than Gregory Peck!

The New Testament has a thread that seems to flow from start to finish. After going through the New Testament in around six weeks, I couldnt wait to get started again. I have discovered truths by listening that I have overlooked many times during reading. It's awesome....get it!!

I, being a devoted Christian, was looking forward to enjoying the bible at all times during the day. Unfortunately, I found this to be a dull, boring rendition of the New Testament. Partially my fault because I didn't realize that it was the King James Version...I find this audiobook to be hard to understand and monotone.

Jesus Christ begins his ministry with a declaration from the book of Isaiah: He has come to set the captives free. He also said, Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. A fabulous story that I can never, ever get tired of.

Less than satisfied with the concept. Same old same old. I've found more meaning in titles that focus on an individual's persepective of reality and hope. This particular edition is clearly outmoded. More insight would have been helpful. More specifically, a more intellectual and modern perspective would have added to this experience. If you're the type of person who asks questions and wants reasonable responses, this is not a worthwhile tale.
