Hoping to bring some Tinseltown money to the Valley, the mayor lures a movie studio to town to shoot their next production, a big-budget Western in the classic tradition. The star is none other than ruggedly handsome—and notoriously badly behaved—Thad Perry. When the mayor decides that someone needs to keep an eye on Thad so that he doesn’t get into too much trouble, Bernie and Chet are handpicked for the job.
The money is good but something smells fishy, and what should have been a simple matter of babysitting soon gets more complicated—especially when they discover that Thad has a mysterious connection to the Valley that nobody wants to talk about. What kind of secret could Thad have left behind when he went to Hollywood to seek fame and fortune? The only people who might know the answer have a bad habit of turning up dead before they can talk.

"I love Chet!"
Ranks in the top 5.
Yes, I have listened to all the Chet and Bernie books. He is very easy to listen to and really brings the characters to life. I can 'see' Chet's expressions in my mind.
Yes! I can't get enough of Chet and Bernie.
I would recommend these books to anyone. I always enjoy the stories and this narrator is awesome. If you are comfortable with 'hearing' a dog's thoughts, these stories are so much fun!
"great fun"
love Chet!
great to hear from Chet's point of view
very good
Chet and Bernie, need I say more!
"The funniest "dog's view of the world" ever"
I am a cat lover not dogs, but this book makes Chet one of my favorite characters. His loyalty to his owner, funny way of "telling the story", good mystery and excellent narration by Jim Frangione are guarantees to put any future books in this series on my wish list.

"Chet the wonder dog"
The narrator is just wonderful.
The mystery was a good one
Chet at the movie scene chasing the cat.

"Still cute"
This series remains cute and funny, even in the face of some of Chet's limited and almost over-used catch phrases. Just when I think it's going to be too much I find myself chuckling. I'm a soft touch when it comes to Chet, I guess.
"This guy really captures dog behavior"
Love these books. I dont normally like dog novels..although I do love dogs. But I happened on this accidently and have been hooked ever since. The dogs eye view if funny and really captures dog behavior..at least from a human perspective. My only criticism is he does occassionaly subject Chet to some abuse by a perpetrator ..usually when they are solving a crime. And he needs to keep in mind that real dog could not withstand some of the things that happen to Chet. This book has less of that I am happy to say! Great book: as are the others,. Recommend it highly: Very entertaining.
Narrator is fantastic
"Chet tells it like it is"
Long on Chet, ok on mystery. Chet and Bernie mysteries warm the hearts of dog lovers. This one continues in that genre. Enjoyable.
"I love Chet and Bernie"
I have 5 Dachsunds nad they talk to me all the time. Chet's voice is familiar
"For Dog Lovers"
In the top ten
It's hard to compare it to any other book since the Chet and Bernie mysteries are unique.
None other than previous Spencer Quinn novels
I like to take my time, but if I were on a trip it would keep me entertained the entire time.
"Still loving Chet"
I continue to love this series and can't wait for more. Sometimes I think Chet is smarter then me, because he can at least keep some trains of thought going.
