Yet Joy's best-laid plans go terribly awry. The plane crashes deep in the darkness of a forest. Daniel O'Shea has returned to the small town of Rain Valley, following the death of his ex-wife. Now he is a single father facing his son's first Christmas without a mother. Six-year-old Bobby isn't making it easy - the boy has closed himself off from the world, surrounding himself with imaginary friends.
When Joy and Bobby meet, they form an instant bond. Thrown together by fate, these wounded souls will be touched by the true spirit of Christmas and remember what it means to be a family.
Then a dramatic turn of events shows Joy the price of starting over. On a magical Christmas Eve she will come face-to-face with a startling truth. Now she must decide: In a time of impossible dreams and unexpected chances, can she find the faith to reach for the love she has found . . . and the new life only she believes in.

I love Kristin Hannah. This is the only one of her books that I was fine putting down.
No. Not all. Even the great Kristin Hannah can't please everyone all the time.
I have loved everything Kristin Hannah has done but this one. This one was just not spiritually moving like the others.
This book truly captivated me. The descriptions were perfectly written. Just enough information to help you to see what was being talked about yet not dragged out so much that you fell asleep. The story is a fantastic story and the way the author wrote it never let on to how it would turn out, yet when you look back on it, the entire book and the actions of the characters made sense. I have listened to this story so many times that I've had to re download it. When I switched from an MP 3 player to my Iphone, I purchased it a second time.
I thought they were all great. Joy with her insecurities and the horrible situation she was in. Bobby who believed in Joy and stuck to his guns and Danial who you had to fall in love with because of his true love for his son.
Every character performed by Sandra Burr is my favorite. You dont even realize you are listening to one reader when she reads. I will listen to any book she narrates.
There were many extreme reactions to this book. Anger, fear, longing, hope and then of course Joy.
This is a book I want to share with everyone. I wish she would write a sequel to it.
This is one of the best and most magical Christmas stories I have read in years! I enjoyed every twist and turn. I was on the edge of my seat until hearing the last few words of the story. This story had the magic and heartwarming aura of Christmas too.
Bobby was my favorite character. He was the pivotal character in the story who brought everyone together. It was a joy to see a broken and grieving little boy experience the joy of Christmas.
This book thrilled me because it is rare to experience a story in which the wrongs are righted in such a wondrous and magical way. This book encompasses the saying: everything happens for a reason.
Kristin Hannah is my favorite author. She never disappoints me!
Liked the story but it was a little far fetched. I love Kristin Hannah's writing but this one was not my favorite.
