"The Outsiders"
I remember reading this book in school, many years ago - so when my son brought it home to read as english 8 homework, I decidied to download it one evening so that we could discuss it together after he finished reading it. It's a great story for many reasons - the class differences and similarities are very well detailed. The main character is very captivating in the book and is easy to lissen to as an audible book. It's hard to stop listening - luckily it's not a long book.
"Chapters DO NOT match."
Great audio book. However, I had the same problem as the previous reviewer. The chapters DO NOT MATCH. Chapter 4 begins half way through chapter three etc...Not good if you use in classroom where you have to select a specific chapter.
An avid reader, who also loves to listen.
"A Classic!"
A great movie and a great audio book as well. Loved the story and I especially loved the narrator as well. Two thumbs up and highly recommended to all who is or once was a teenager!

"Great for a wide variety of ages"
My fourteen year old son kept urging me to get this book after reading it in school. I initially got it simply to support and encourage his reading habit. The book grabbed me from the beginning and never bogged down. I recommend it to ALL teenagers and see no reason why any adult wouldn't like it as well. Great story, well narrated.
"Jim Fyfe's Amazing Voices"
I'm an 8th grade Language Arts teacher and I usually read the narration for books or stories to my classes. I feel I can do a better job than the taped narrations I have access to. In this case, I heard a sample of Mr. Fyfe's narration for 'The Outsiders' and I was sold. He has an amazing capacity to capture numerous different voices and I'm hoping to find another book that he has narrated and that I can use for my 8th graders.-Andrew Kornfeld

"Great "classic" story"
What a great story. Stories should be told and passed down through generations. This is one of those that every human in any country in any language can relate to. Hinton tells this story very well. It's about growing up and dealing with some of the problems we all had.
This book should be on the "must read" list for every young person in our country.
I am a miracle worker. Doing what I can to choose love over fear.
"The perfect first listen"
Fantastic,haunting,classic.
The story is short which in my opinion blends every moment together. A perfect listen.

A painful beauty
Not heard about this? Turn it on. Please.
I'm a APP. PROFESSIONAL and love it!! I have over 100 books in my library and not stoping any time soon!! Thanks audible!!
"Still a classic!!!"
I love the movie I've seen it a 100 times so I bought the book. The book is almost the same as the movie, but the end is a little different. After the brawl it goes in to the court case to keep all three brother together. The movie starts off by Ponyboy reading about what happens. In the book at the end Ponyboy has to write a paper to pass a class. So at the end he writes the paper and tells what happens, how hard it is to be a teenager without parents. This is a great book and movie read and watch both!!
"Still Gripping 45 Years Later"
Among the best. Not only the story but the performance. Kept three classes of seventh grade students glued to the pages listening and following along. Thank you!
My seventh graders loved the book from the opening page until the end. Lots to love.
Ponyboy. But he does a great job with all of the characters. Subtle but evident changes to his voice makes it an enjoyable listen.
Many of them - don't want to spoil anything for anyone.
I'm thankful Audible allowed me to play this for my seventh grade class to listen to as we followed along in our books. The kids couldn't wait to get in to my class to get to the next chapter. I think Jim Fyfe did an exceptional job which completely transfixed my students and really enhanced the book in so many ways.
