"I would like to see al the world's great leaders locked in a room with Loretta LaRoche for twenty-four hours. When they'd emerge, they'd be saner, wiser, and happier, and our planet would be better off." (Larry Dossey, M.D., author, Reinventing Medicine and Healing Words)
"Kinda Preachy"
This wasn't what I expected from Loretta Laroche. It's full of nostalgia for some "good old days" that may or may not of have existed entirely and she's sort of admonishing the reader to get back to that time, when things were so much simpler and better and so forth than they are now. I'm afraid it got to be such a tedious listen, I had to turn it off. Watching her live on stage and in performance on video, I've been in uncontrollable tears laughing in the midst of her humor therapy, which is lacking here. I chose this one because it's long -- well, it's TOO long.
"Excellent!"
Take a look at yourself and have a good laugh. This book let me do just that! Don't you think we all take most things way too seriously? Where has all the fun gone? Loretta tells, in her typically funny way, us to slow down and enjoy life! Good and well needed advice!
"Like Listening To A Good Friend"
Loretta LaRoche has long been a favourite inspirational speaker of mine, and I knew going into this audiobook that she would provide me with some much needed perspective on stress-related events in my life. She did not disappoint, and I enjoyed listening to her stories and advice in her own voice.
Listening to Loretta is like sitting down with a wise aunt or good friend, who has a clear perspective on people and relationships, and how stressful things were managed much better in her grandmother's time, and she steers you back on course with common sense and humour. Sometimes the message can be repetitive to listen to - after all, this is a 6 hour audiobook and I found myself breaking up chapters with a fictional audiobook. But even she doesn't take herself too seriously, as she advises not to look for all the answers in gurus like herself. Entertaining!
