"Tragic but worth it."
This story starts out with a terrible tragedy. Spencer must have lost someone she was close to in order to have described great mourning in such detail. In a paper book, you can skim over parts that are hard to handle, but in audio, you are stuck with every grueling and painful detail. However it's a beautiful book, a great romance, and an interesting description of life within the religious order. In my opinion, it's better than books with the tragedy at the end.
"My ears still hurt!"
Soooo disappointed that this audio book is recorded so poorly it sounds like the narrator is in an echo chamber. When I finally gave up after 20 minutes, my ears literally hurt! Seems to me we should be able to count on a certain level of listening ease. I beg you not to waste your money on this one. (The story is a great one - I've read the book. This recording, however,....unbearable.)
"Highly recommended!"
This was the most sad, then the most beautiful love story I have read or listened to in a long time; probably ever listened to or read! I recommend this highly if you like sad and beautiful love stories!
After nine surgeries on my brain and looking at a tenth, audio is the choice for me to feel whole again. I am myself in the world of books!
"Great fun!"
This is a special book that's sad, warm, funny, and sweet all rolled into one. It pulls you into the story and you start to feel for the family and want them to be happy.
"You cannot hear a thing!"
The sound on this is horrible - DO NOT WASTE A CREDIT!
Make the sound better
If the sound was improved
I do not know - you couldn't make out what they are saying...
I should be able to return this for a credit!
"Poor Quality"
Probably not
The narration was of poor quality. Very hard to understand. Narrator did not portray each character as in other books that I have listened to.
I read this book a long time ago and that is why I choose it. Loved the story.
"My favorite love story"
I would say this story is my favorite love story of all times. LaVeryle is such a brilliant writer. The characters are so real and warm and loving...(all but one!) The recording is very old and hard to hear....so, if you let that get in the way, you won't like it. But if you can get past that....it's a wonderful love story.
"Audio Quality is horrible"
I can't believe that Audible inventories a recording of SUCH POOR QUALITY to be completely impossible to listen to. I know that this is not recorded by Audible but there should be a warning that the audio quality is very low.It sounds like they got Amy Irving (who is not a good reader) on the phone to record this.
"Then Came Heaven"
I'm not of the Catholic faith but I thought this was a wonderful audiobook.
"Loved the story"
I really love all LS books, have read them all. This was the first one i listened to and it was a great disappointment, hard to understand half the words. The narrator was horrible. Buy the book and read it, it is worth it. I do not recommend to buy this version.
