Mirren Kincaid remembers the vampire he used to be - and he’s not going back. As the Slayer, Mirren served the Vampire Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner. Then he refused a kill order and eventually found himself the protector and second-in-command of the peaceful enclave of Penton, Alabama. As civil war threatens to break out in the vampire world over the scarcity of untainted human blood, the Tribunal wants its slayer back - and has sent a beautiful witch to retrieve him.
Descended from a powerful shaman, Glory Cummings is meant to restore Mirren to his bloodthirsty ways as the Tribunal’s assassin. But Glory doesn’t see a killer when she looks at Mirren; she sees a vampire haunted by his past. Though her mission is to turn him into a monster, she hopes her magic touch can heal the man she’s suddenly falling for. But the Tribunal has never looked kindly upon defiance.

"IT'S LIKE QUICKSAND....IT'LL SUCK YOU RIGHT IN"
I have just finished listening to this wonderful vampire series which has everything in it and just keeps getting better. It has passion and romance, a mind blowing plot that is filled with surprises and twists, awesome characters that you will love ....... and some you'll hate and an ending that will have you begging for the next book.
Once I started this book I just couldn't stop listening until it's climatic ending and I believe the next book Omega (Will's story) won't be out until next February so my only question now is ........ what can I possibly follow this book with?
Worth a credit? I'm a huge paranormal/romance fan and it ABSOLUTELY hit all my buttons - so that would be a YES.
Busy mom who loves to read but doesn't always have the time. I enjoy YA, Romance and the occasional Best Seller.
"Just Wow!"
I LOVED this one! This is definitely worth a credit and then some. There are so many reasons why I liked this book.
1. Great heroine. She was smart, tough and full of spunk.
2. Great hero. He was sexy, strong and very complex.
3. Good story and full of action.
4. Couldn't stop listening
5. Can't wait for the next book ( already pre- ordered)
This one was even better then the first book. 5 stars all around!!
i'm a romance's lice! i crawl all over it... :D
"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! What a different taste?"
I never thought a second book of any series can top the first.. but this one definitely did it!
What i love about this book:
1.) The heroine is totally unpredictable (in a good way) not at all cliche. She's witty, funny, smart, independent and stubborn all for the right reasons.
2.) The story is also unpredictable (In a totally good way also) it kept me guessing the whole time...
3.) The hero has a quality that i cant put a finger on. He's mysterious and yet predictable at times, strong and manly but very very sweet, dominant but also submissive... So cute and so.. oh so.. sexy!
4.) the sex scenes are so exciting and so sweet!
5.) Actions packed
6.) How both hero and heroine challenged each other and left me wanting more!
I can't wait for the third book! The story of William!! Yay...
I have started listening to audibooks and I don't think I can ever READ a book again. It's now my new favorite addiction.
"What happened to the Narrator!"
Let me first start by saying that I loved this book. I read Redemption first and instantly was caught up in the rapture that is Penton. I enjoyed that fact that isn’t your typically vampire series. The twist of the storyline kept me listening, going back and re -listening to chapters in the book.
What can I say about Mirren? He is strong, mysterious, gorgeous and extremely passionate. Just the very thought of him, makes me wish I was in Penton, AL. Glory is an outspoken, take charge, compassionate woman. The romance that sparks between Mirren and Glory is quite electric.
My only problem with this book is the narrator. Angela did a fantastic job in the first book. I wish she was doing the reading in this book. Amy didn’t have the depth that Angela voice did. I hope for the third book, Angela is back as the narrator.
Hi all fellow listeners. I am disabled and spend most my time at home or walking my beautiful Jack Russell dog Sydney. I live for my dog and fantasy world. Keeps me going having this wonderful site to get all my books from. Remember to laugh and smile every day and throw some love into the mix :)
"Absolution"
Another great story carried on from the 1st book in this series. Unfortunately the Narrator, Amy McFadden, was not good. Susannah Sandlin should of used the Narrator in the fist book, Angela Dawe, she was excellent. . A great story line once again but ruined by the narrator. Please go back to Angela for the 3rd book.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
"Keeps getting better!"
I enjoyed the first book, but this one was much better. The excitement in the plot and also the sexual interaction was good. This is a must have if you've started on this series. I'm looking foward to book 3.
Audiobooks are relaxing and 'food for the soul'.
"Nice Sequel"
Very good second installment of the series. It is way better than the first. I feel comfortable starting the third installment, Omega.
The interaction between Mirren and Glory. Entertaining banter.
This is my first listen to Amy McFadden. She did an excellent job. I just couldn't get into Angela Dawes' narration in the first installment. I'm glad Amy is narrating the third installment, Omega.
Most definitely.
"New narrator makes a world of difference!"
I ended up having to read the first of the series, really didn't care for the narration. With a change in narrators, I listened to most of this book, only switching to reading a few times. She totally nabbed Glory and Mirrin in my opinion. I had to chuckle at times with their interactions.
This has shown to be a very interesting series, with an intriguing concept of Vampires trying to survive with the humans, after a virus has poisoned most of the human blood population. Penton is a community made up of what I call the good vampires, being harassed by one of the governing Tribunal vampires, that is afraid of Penton's sucess. All in all, there is a lot of suspense and back stabbing going on, with a good dose of violence, compassion, and love.
Within this, the author has created many memorable characters, whose stories develop more and more with each installment. I have really enjoyed these two books, and am on to the next "Omega"
Why can't real life be like books?
"Great Series!"
Loved this book but wish the vamps would act more vampy. They keep getting caught unaware even though they know what's coming. How can an army sneak up on 55 vampires. The author has populated her story with 55 vampires, but only 4 or 5 have anything to do. How about using the other 50 to guard the town?
I found myself really rooting for Glory - she is an awesome original character. Hope she's given more to do in subsequent books.
Sex scenes are a bit short -- so if your expecting steamy romance, you won't really find it here. I will say that what there is is good, not awkward, and I expect this author will eventually find her way in that department.
Amy McFadden did a good job with voices. Enjoyed her reading very much.
"Absolutely a good 2nd"
Interesting, intriguing, irresistible
I think it was when Glory and Mirren meant for the first time.
The standoff at the end of the book.
Not really, while I could have done it in one sitting because it wasn't a long book.
This is a good follow up to the first book. It keeps your interest with just the right amount of romance. But because there is a larger story at work it doesn't draw you away from that. In fact you find yourself wanting book 3, right after you finish this one. It is a fast read and that's one of the things that keeps your interest.
