"Wonderful"
I have been blessed with so much anger and at the same time I was scared of angry people. So I always tried to avoid situations involving anger and whenever that happened, I did everything sinful and caused lot of pain in relationships. My wife got this book and had left it in our den. She is one of the most wonderful people God has given in my life and my anger was one of the major road block which prevented me from having the relationship I am missing with her. This book helped me to understand anger and one week after reading it, I can feel that I am not that scared of angry situations any more and as I start to focus on the cause of anger of myself and of others, I do not feel that much hurt and am able to forgive and am able to release anger before sunset. It is a wonderful book and everyone should read it.
"A Tool Sent from Heaven to Overcome Anger!!"
I was skeptical about getting this book, but after consulting with my Husband I finally got it.
There are several reasons for the ones I didn't want to go to a counselor (even a christian one): money, time, and specially because I didn't want to tell the whole story of life to a stranger.
I was thinking people just make books for the money, but this is not the case. I asked my Project Manager at work if he had read any of Dr. Chapmans books and he said that Dr. Chapman goes straight to the point; after reading this book I can say that I totally agree with him.
This book was written to help people to comprehend the root of anger and how to manage it. I had struggle with anger since I can remember, and I had been asking God for deliverance. I know God answered me leading me to this book. I'm enjoying life more as I keep using the guidelines described in this book.
Thank you Dr. Chapman!!
"Very helpful."
I would recommend this book to anyone with anger problems. It has helped me to see things in a different light and made a significant difference for me.
"Beware: Religion"
One thing that isn't explicit about this book until you begin listening to it is that Gary Chapman like him some religion. He's a southern gentleman with some wholesome old-timey wisdom. Sarcasm aside, his insight, when devoid of religious commentary, is pretty sound. It is hard to wholly recommend this to non-religious readers. Chapman at times condescends non-believers, questioning how or why they have morals if they don't have faith. It'd be nice for the author to stay in the real, physical world, not a world full of moral metaphor and hypocrisy. I may not know where anger began, but I'm sure an anthropological survey of it would be quite interesting and insightful. Chapman denies historical and scientific approaches to anger, and substitutes his faith and the words of long gone fictionalists.
"Just Terrible."
No...not at all.
This is a book on anger that tells us to give the anger to God, and let Jesus take care of things. If we could do that, we'd not have to read the books on self help.More techniques are to tell the person up front whats on your mind, and if they don't respond, take them to the church and expose them and all kinds of things like this that are not relevant in most situations for today. I HAVE NO PROBLEM with people that go to church....those people are not the issue!!!! Almost nothing was of any value here for me, and in fact made things even worse as I became angry I ever bought this foolish book, that would be nice in another world, but not this one we live in.I felt no better after reading this at all.
