On the morning of September 11, 2001, two men meet in a smoky stairwell of the World Trade Center. One is Eric Michaels, a driven financial manager from Los Angeles who has been busy climbing the corporate ladder, often at the expense of his wife and young son. The other is Jake Bryan, a New York City fireman devoted to his wife and daughter. In the midst of the crisis, Eric falls on the stairs and Jake stops to help him up. The two men freeze momentarily, stunned by the uncanny resemblance between them.
Later, after the building has crumbled to the ground, Eric awakes beneath a fire truck. He is burned and bloody and most of his clothes have been blown off. A fire captain rushes to his side, thinking he recognizes his friend Jake. By the time Jake's wife arrives at the hospital, Eric's face is bandaged and his memory gone.
In the months that follow, Eric struggles to relate to a wife and daughter he doesn't remember, while on the opposite coast Eric's real wife grieves and finds comfort from Eric's brother, a single man who has always adored her. The emotional suspense builds as Eric begins to have disturbing dreams and flashbacks, and questions grow in Jake's wife's mind.
The only way for Eric to find his way is by following the love of a special woman, and the footsteps of a man who no longer exists.

"What a concept!"
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well-developed, and the research was excellent. It kept you wondering until the very end. It made me see much more clearly the agony and heartache the victims of 9/11 went through. Living in the Midwest, I sympathized, but never really felt their pain. This book took me there. We need more Christian fiction of this caliber.
"One Tuesday Morning"
This book held my attention from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down.
"Very disappointing!"
I am so disappointed with this purchase. I am not even half way through it but I don't think I can take anymore. Overall the book has a great story but it is way to religious for the average reader. I am shocked that there is nothing in the description that describes how religious the book really is. I am not anti-reliigion, but I can't even get into the story because every other paragraph is about how great Jesus is. If you're not looking for a SUPER religious book, don't buy it! Also, someone else mentioned, one of the narrators swallows so loudly every few minutes that it really starts to get on your nerves...
"Extremely disappointed"
This book should have been identified as Christian literature with a pervasive religious theme. I would not have purchased this book had it been identified by Audible for what it really is. This is not the type of literature that I enjoy or would consider reading. I am feeling quite deceived by the description of this book.
"What a sweet story!"
The "coincidences" told in this book could only be the work of God, and thankfully the credit is given to no one else! A very lovely telling of the very dramatic grief experienced by fire-fighters' wives who lost their husbands in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Wonderful narrator - would listen to her books anytime. Please, Audible, bring us more of this quality book & narrator. Thank you!
"Wow!"
I am now a regular book listner and reader, and this is one book you don't want to miss. I laughed so hard and cried so often I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. It was a ride I will never forget. I have read other Karen Kingsbury books but this is one I couldn't put down, or turn off. I would even recommend this book to Christians that don't typically read Christian novels. It has universal appeal.
"Loved It1"
Very Moving Book
The Anticipation, I don't want to put any spoilers but the change in characters was awesome.
I have, they are my preferred types of audio, this one is just as well.
Very Moving I just loved listening to this book on my long drive home, for my camping trip last year. VERY Good audio and enjoyed the full case narration.
"Understanding"
Healing from God
The story line.
On this most difficult day good has provided this great book.
"Wonderful story."
One of my favorites.
I am not sure but it is now one of my favorites.
It really brings the book to life.
Jamie, how she dealt with the situation.
I will read the entire series.
"Good Christian Fiction"
I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was refreshing to have Christian characters.
