Metro Girl

OK, I'm pretty used to Evanovich's other novels (?), (the non- 'other' being the Stephanie Plum type), and this one is not worse nor better than the others. Even if I don't understand the title (although Barney does state several times that she's from Baltimorewhich is a metro area), the premise is typical Evanovich. However...the reader! I keep trying to hear my own head-reading and it's nothing like what my ears are hearing. Sorry, but she should never read a man part; nor a Spanish-Cuban part. She's very distracting. So distracting that I can't even remember her name, which was, I think, mentioned at the start of the book. It should remain unmemorable -- except for remembering not to read her books again.

Although she introduces us to new characters, there is not a big difference to her other characters. But I liked it just the same although it wasn't as funny as Stephanie Plum but an easy listen and it did keep you interested enough to put the next CD in...if you like Janet Evanoviches other characters you'll enjoy this one I sure did.

While the names were changed the characters and plot were not. Metro Girl is really just a location and name change for Stephanie Plum. For those that enjoy that series they will enjoy Metro Girl. NASCAR Guy was a little unbelieveable, and I kept looking for LuLu to show up somewhere. Fairly fun light humor. Okay for the commute to work listen.

Why they picked a 60+ year old librarian to narrate a 30 year old baltimore hotty, I will never understand. It sounds like she is narrating for children's story time at the local library. And THEN she tried to do men's voices with accents! The narrator totally ruined the book.

I would have given it more like 3 stars, if they had a better narrator.

This was one of the funest books (after Stephanie Plum)I have read in a long time. Loved It!!!!

I like Evanovich and might have liked this book a lot more in print than audio. Great literature it isn't, but her novels are fun and light, usually providing a few hours of entertainment. I listened to this reader mispronounce geographic names, and semi-tolerated her dramatization of the hero, transforming him from Texan charmer to half-wit redneck. But Critt's main sin was making what should have been a fast-paced book proceed with such deadly sloth I could have been listening to English instruction for non-speakers. Next time get rid of Critt!!! Lorelei is a little cloying, but at least she moves the story along. Better yet, see if Jean Smart is available.

I like most of Janet's books and I also like to listen to C. J. Critt.

I just like the way she reads the book and how she plays the different charters

This is a book that my daughter and I can not put down! C.J. Critt does a fabulous read as well. Excellent all around I there is not enough good things to say about it! I love the cast of characters and the flow of the story line and when you add C.J. Critt's voice to the mix this becomes a true essential to my Library. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

The big question on your mind is ...okay after this is nuttyness...will be what can happen next and how will they get out of this mess!

There is a sequel so yes the you can read more about the people you fall in love with!

Barnaby and Hooker come to life! You will forget right away that there is only one person reading the book.
