Just how good can a bad boy be?
Olivia Bishop is no fun. That's what her ex-husband said. And that's what her smart bob and glasses imply. So with her trademark determination, Olivia sets out to remake her life. She's going to spend time with her girlfriends and not throw it all away for some man. But when an outing with her book club leads her to a brewery taproom, the dark-haired beauty realizes that trouble - in the form of sexy Jamie Donovan - may be too tempting to avoid.< /p>
Jamie Donovan doesn’t mean to be bad. Sure, the wild streak in his wicked green eyes has lured the ladies before. Now it's time to grow up. He's even ready for a serious romance. But how can that be when Olivia, the only right woman he has ever met, already has him pegged as wrong?

"Cute, romantic fun"
Mostly I'm writing this review because of the bad one that almost made me not buy it. Is it predictable? Sure. But I don't expect a lot of twists and turns in what is essentially a fairy tale. I listen to romances for the romance, the flirting, and hopefully some humor. This book has that in spades, and is an enjoyable, light listen. I recommend it, and plan to get Good Girls Don't next.
Also: Cougars? Really? I don't think a 35-year-old woman dating a 29-year-old man is a cougar. It's only a 6-year difference!
I'm a DJ who travels a lot and listen to books while I drive 4 hours in each direction weekly. I've been an avid reader since the age of 5!
"Need a new voice!"
I liked the story, but since I listen while on the road it was difficult as the narrator sounded like she was whispering whenever she would switch characters- annoying.
Whispering when switching characters. Ruined it for me.
Tell us about yourself! I really do know how to spell repetition!
"Oh, those Donovan boys!"
No, predicable but great to go to sleep by.
Real Men Will, it's a series of these brothers and their women.
Olivia, is the woman that Jamie finds challenging and visa versa.
No, easy to put down and to pick up!
I like these series, they are chick fluff and calms you after listening to some heavy stuff like Girl Gone.
When I clean, drive or exercise I listen to romance. The steamier the better but it must have a great story as well!
"Not Her Best Work"
I have loved Victoria Dahl in the past, so when I saw that this book didn't have fabulous ratings I was a little surprised. I decided to give it a chance thinking maybe people just didn't get her style of writing. Unfortunately however it was not her best work. I had a really hard time relating to this story. Not due to the age different between the two main characters but instead the story line was just dull. I hope someone else can find joy out of it, it just didn't compare to her past work however. Better luck next time Victoria.
I tend to get into grooves where everything I read is historical romance, mystery, light romantic comedy, thrillers, or whatever. I used to read (in print) 2 or 3 books at the same time, switching one to the other, depending on mood. But there are medications for that now, LOL.
"I love these characters"
Jamie Donovan is the guy for me! Fun loving on the surface, but with a bit of himself he keeps hidden. He has a lack of confidence you don't see in very many leading males, but to see him gain it keeps the story moving. And Olivia's growth into her true self is a great parallel as well.
I like the setting of the trilogy, perhaps because I've been there and know that Boulder is "24 square miles surrounded by reality". It evokes the college town atmosphere.
Ms Fortgang gives a good performance by differentiating vocal characteristics and atmosphere.
This is a story I'll listen to again - well, once I run out of credits for new books!
AVID reader; very critical. My reviews don't repeat the book's description, but are why I enjoyed the book and why I think you will.
"Borderline erotica"
I bought this book based on reviews/ratings; I wanted something different to listen to during stressful wait times. This book is horrible. It reminds me of a porn flick - no plot, just gratuitous, poorly done sex. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a prude, but this book is just crap. The story is gratuitous, the sexual encounters even more gratuitous. There are better writers and better books for romance style - Natural Born Charmer for one. This book drove me back to my serial killers and mysteries!
"Romantic, fun, engaging -- a great story!"
This is the story of Jamie Donovan, middle brother in the Donovan clan, and Olivia Bishop, slightly older and very straight laced instructor at the local university. Jamie has a reputation for being a ladies man and a screw-up. He works as a bartender at the family's brewery, taking on little more responsibility or work than is strictly necessary. At least, that is the reputation that he has. He wants to do more, to BE more, and to have others seem him that way, too. Olivia is a woman who happens to meet him, at the brewery (of course!), who is coming out of a decade long marriage to an older, controlling man. She suffers from an inferiority complex of her own -- feeling that she is boring and old. When these two get together, their developing relationship really reels you in.
The narration by Lauren Fortgang is GREAT, as well. This is the 2nd in the series and I cannot wait to get to the third.
"NOT BORING"
yes, This is one I would listen to again and again
Her guy voices are sexy and really good.
I loved that there was not alot of boring emotion dialogue from the characters. It had plenty of good sex and romance.
"Would not recommend"
Hard to answer. Don't want to offend anyone. I won't select any more books by this author.
NO. This book is not a good representation of the genre. Many others more worthy
of your time.
The narration may be the only redeeming aspect of the book.
narrator okay.
I enjoy romance novels based on plots with mystery or action and complex human relationships--layered over with sensual, steamy sex. This book had none of these qualities.
The plot was thin and the sex was little more than using 4 letter labels for sexual organs and
acts.
"BAD BOYS"
The title is catchy, but the story is mediocre. I have enjoyed this author when there an interesting story. This was more like formula reading, with hot lust scenes thrown in.
