    "Great Story. Love the Characters"
What made the experience of listening to In the Garden of Disgrace the most enjoyable?

I have read several of Wicklund's books, and I love her cast of characters, whether major or supporting.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I love the duel scene. She is very descriptive and makes her scenes come to life.

    Any additional comments?

When I am in a rotten mood, I enjoy reading Wicklund's books to pick up my spirits. Now I can listen while doing other chores! Great. Love having her books available in audio.

    "Good Story?? I can't tell, I just can't listen."
Would you try another book from Cynthia Wicklund and/or Tanya S. Bartlett?

I'll read this author rather than listen to Ms.Bartlett. She is hard to listen to.

What was most disappointing about Cynthia Wicklund’s story?

    I haven't completed the story yet .

Would you be willing to try another one of Tanya S. Bartlett’s performances?

    No, I don't think so.

    "Great Story/Bad Narrator"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The Narrator needs some lessons in pronunciation. It really distracts from the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tanya S. Bartlett’s performances?

Probably not unless someone checks her readings for mispronunciations.

    "Narration"
Would you try another book from Cynthia Wicklund and/or Tanya S. Bartlett?

The Narrator is terrible I feel like she is just reading the book. She doesn't get into each character and the room that she is narrating in sounds hallow. I have the first two and was very disappointed by Tanya Bartlett narration.

Would you be willing to try another book from Cynthia Wicklund? Why or why not?

Yes as long as it isn't narrated by Tanya S. Bartlett!

"Voice So Bad you'll want to die"

and that says it all. She pauses in the middle of sentences not for dramatic effect but because she literally cannot read well. Her voice is high pitched - UGH! It's so bad go through an hour and that was it. i loved this series and wanted to hear books 3 and 4. Instead I'm demanding my money back and buying the books.

NEVER LISTEN TO ANYTHING WITH TANYA BARTLETT EVER!

    "This narrator is absolutely horrible"
What did you like best about In the Garden of Disgrace? What did you like least?

    The story was good

    Any additional comments?

To be incapable of correct pronunciation of common words is inexcusable. Did the producer even listen to this book. What a shame.

    "Wonderful Regency Historical"

I'm a big fan of Cynthia Wicklund's Garden Series so I was excited when audio book editions of her books started arriving. I grabbed this one and Book 1, In the Garden of Temptation, immediately.

There have been a few negative reviews about the narrator of this book. I do know that sound quality varies a lot depending on the medium used to listen to an audio book so perhaps that's the problem, but don't let that keep you from giving this wonderful romance a chance.

One foolhardy act by young Lady Jillian Fitzgerald changed her life forever. She lost everything -- her fiance, her good name, her acceptance in polite society -- all because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It would be easy to blame the events of that day on Adrian St. John, Earl of Wickham, but "Lord Wicked" as he was popularly called was no more at fault than she.

Unfortunately, Lord Wicked left England and didn't know what had happened whereas Jilly was forced to face the wagging tongues and the scorn of the ton for eight long years until he returned.

In eight years, Jilly grew up and, instead of hiding her face in shame, she rebelled against all the restrictions women faced. She refused to be cowed and held her head high. Now a woman of independent means, she has a mind of her own and a will to match. A mind of her own? A strong will? How unthinkable for a woman in Regency England!

Jilly is a heroine you'll love. She is determined that if Adrian is to like her, then, by God, he'll like her for herself, as she is, without pretending that she is like all the other women. Adrian, the delicious Lord Wicked, is a hero you'll adore because he's determined to do the right thing, and, in so doing, finds himself ensnared.

    "Narrator ruins book"
What disappointed you about In the Garden of Disgrace?

The narrator sounds like Eliza Doolittle at the Ascot races. her stacatto word by word delivery was so distracting that it took a conscious effort to realize the meaning of the passage. Her mispronunciation of words also made it necessary for the listener to translate to the proper word. What a shame that the story was so diminished by the performance that it was ruined instead of enhanced.

Would you recommend In the Garden of Disgrace to your friends? Why or why not?

No. It was almost tortuous to continue listening to the narrator's lack of comprehensible fluency.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya S. Bartlett?

Justine Eyre, Barbara Rosenblat, Davina Porter, etc.

What character would you cut from In the Garden of Disgrace?

The plot and characters were fine.

    Any additional comments?

I am shocked that no one seems to be editing or directing the performance.

"As dazzling an earful as the book is for your eyes"
Would you consider the audio edition of In the Garden of Disgrace to be better than the print version?

I think the audio edition equals the print/ebook version - having read/heard both, I think it just depends on the mood you are in whether to read or listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In the Garden of Disgrace?

I, too, loved the dual scene...very vivid!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Journey back in time - to an era of elegance

    Any additional comments?

I love Cynthia Wicklund's historical novels - they are vivid, evocative, and captivating. I felt the transition to audio worked perfectly.

Because of one reviewers note on an 'echo' - I did not hear that when I listened on my computer with a set of headphones at all. So I think the device you listen to an audio book on is important.

There are distortion issues on older ipods, cheap MP3 players...so please do both the writer and narrator the justice of hearing an audiobook on a quality piece of equipment!

    "Excellent story..."
If you could sum up In the Garden of Disgrace in three words, what would they be?

    Redemption.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In the Garden of Disgrace?

    I enjoyed the "storm scene"

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tanya S. Bartlett?

I don't know if I would listen to this narrator again--her cadence was off and I found her less than wonderful to listen to--
