A Devilish Duke on a Quest for Pleasure...
Frannie Darling was once a child of London's roughest streets, surrounded by petty thieves, pickpockets, and worse. But though she survived this harsh upbringing to become a woman of incomparable beauty, Frannie wants nothing to do with the men who lust for her, the rogues who frequent the gaming hall where she works. She can take care of herself and feels perfectly safe on her own-safe, that is, until he strides into her world, and once again it becomes a very dangerous place indeed.
To bed her but not wed her. That's what Sterling Mabry, the eighth Duke of Greystone, wants. But Frannie abhors arrogant aristocrats interested only in their own pleasure. So why then does the thought of an illicit tryst with the devilish duke leave her trembling with desire? Her willing body begs for release . . . and a wicked, wonderful surrender.

I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
"A four stars historical romance"
I had low expectations on this book. Sterling (Catherine's brother) was a jerk on the first book and continued to be a jerk at the beginning of this one. Frannie was very uptight. And although I absolutely believe in love/lust at first sight sometimes it is difficult to believe. But it totally worked on this book. As only Heath can master she developed another powerful love story. Her character development continues to amaze me as both Frannie and Sterling ended up being completely different from why I was expecting at the beginning.
I suggest that you follow this series in order as you will get updates of the other couples from previous books. The epilogue was So So Sooo good! It gives you the impression the author was going to end the series with that book. It was a complete conclusion. She even said what will happen to the inspector. She apparently changed her mind because there is a fourth book with the story of Jim. All in a this was another great romantic and passionate story with excellent character development that will keep you wanting more.
Narration: Susan Ericksen did a very good. Great accents, great emotions and intensity. Definitely worth your time and credit!
"CAPTIVATING"
I Iove the scoundrels of St James series and really wanted to hear about Frannie being the only girl. I loved how she viewed life and what she wanted for herself.
"Finally, Frannie's story!"
The 3rd in the Scoundrels of St. James series is the story of Frannie Darling and Sterling Mabry, Duke of Greystone, and older brother of Catherine, newly wed to Jack Dodger. Frannie is a bookkeeper at Jack's gaming hall and his childhood friend from the streets. Sterling is a real jerk -- having abandoned his sister to tour the world while their father lay ill after a stroke and making inappropriate advances towards Frannie, including offering to set her up as his mistress. As we learn more, though, it becomes clear that Sterling is deeply wounded, harboring secrets and reasons for why he feels he cannot commit his heart to anyone. Frannie, too, has secrets from her past that make her feel like she cannot ever truly give or receive love, other than to the orphans that she rescues or to the "lads" that she grew up with.
Susan Erikson does a great job narrating this story. The developing relationship between Frannie and Sterling literally brought tears to my eyes a few times. Such a great listen! Only one more left in the series... Bittersweet, indeed.

"Excellent Book!!"
Susan Ericken was an excellent choice to narrate this story.
I plan on reading all the related books to this story.
"OK"
I don't know why I downloaded all of the books in this series at one time. I usually try the first book of a series to see if I want to continue. But not this time - maybe I had them confused with another series. The books were OK. They even had some good ideas, but the stories never did much with them. Spoiler alert: The female characters are supposed to be strong and intelligent, but in a crisis, they are totally useless - to the point of doing damage to the heroes. I hate when a book goes into stupid woman mode. The heroes don't do much in a fight either. There was one passage about a hanging that I didn't like at all. And I could have done without the extra added for the ending. OK, but nothing more.
"Excellent Story and Characters"
I liked the plot of this story especially because it was about the shy often thought of by the English nobility as worthless, Frannie Darling. The story unfolds beautifully and again, the narration by Susan Ericksen is memorable. I found this book because of her narration. I liked the first one in this series and plan to download the third.
If you enjoy a good plot, believable characters that are entertaining, you'll like this audio book.
