Out of Control: Troubleshooters, Book 4

I enjoyed a book by this author so much I went for another and the story was equally well written. It was not equally well read. If one can get past the flat monotone of the reader then there's an enjoyable adventure here. If you're put off by someone who reads an action or romantic scene as if they were reading a manual on how to strip and rebuild an engine then skip it and go to the next book in this series. You will not be dissapointed.

The story is gripping. It has many of the characters from the previous 3 Troubleshooters books we've come to know and love.

How could it NOT be better? It was stilted, rushed, and flat. Please tell me this woman won't be narrating future books in this series!! She'd be ok for National Geographic but her intonation was more along the lines of the brother from Everyone Loves Raymond talking about different varieties of donuts available than someone caught in the grip of suspense and romance.

With a different narrator- yes. With this narrator... I'm heading over to buy it for my kindle because I want to finish the story but I'm having a hard time figuring out what's going on with her.

This is my second Suzanne Brockmann book. She reminds me of Linda Howard and Sandra Brown, although she is a better suspense writer. The plot is as important as the love stories. She is so very talented and creates a world of characters who are as interesting as the main two.
Through masterfully interweaving storylines, the novel flowed with great passion and intensity. The various subplots were incredibly fascinated. The stories are filled with big ideas, balancing duty to one's country or honor with true love and family. These are books you will get lost in.
The narrator is very good as well.

As a fan of older Linda Howard books, I am intrigued with Brockman, and pleased to have found a new author. (well, new to me) Brockman writes a better plot, though not maybe not steamy as Howard.
Although, this book is perfectly fine stand alone. I know these characters pop up in many of the other books, and it's considered a series. Ive found no issues starting with this book, which I believe is book 3. Looking forward to more of her novels.

I love this series of books but the narration on this one is a little flat. Ms. Lana should slow down and add some inflection to her voice. At points it was difficult to identify which character was speaking. However, the story is very enjoyable and exciting.

The actual story by Brockmann gets at least a 4 star rating from me, but the audiobook only gets two stars because the narrator ruined it. Her monotonous, inflectionless voice made it very difficult to listen to this book, in fact, I found myself daydreaming and getting bored. That's pretty sad considering that the story itself was great! Her weak attempt at accents, like Scottish, was annoying, and other necessary accents were simply nonexistent. I had to try to focus on every word in order to know when dialogue changed from character to character and as I said earlier, focusing was very difficult. All I could say is that I'm glad Brockmann uses different narrators for her books, because I'll never listen to a book narrated by Norma Lana again. If you can, buy the book in print, you'll enjoy it much more.

This series is in my top 10...however it is hard to rate each book within the series as the characters & stories overlap. Suzanne Brockman has done a great job.

Any of the Troubleshooter Series stand alone...although I recommend reading them in order to keep the characters and stories follow one another.

I like "Wild Card"...I thought Norma Lana did a fine job. I really like the later books with both male and female narrators.

Absolutely...unfortunately it is a 14+ hour book!

While this IS Navy SEAL based characters & action packed IT IS A ROMANCE with strong language a sexual scenes.

Yes, because if it weren't for audiobooks I'd never have time to read. I work full time and teach part time and drive 1.5 hours a day - those are the best hours of the day because I get to listen to books that take me away from the stress of daily life! To be honest, I've never picked up a hard copy. Audio/digital/electronic is the way to go.

Most of the Troubleshooters series, but that's not fair. I love this series of books and haven't found another nearly as good. Brockmann is a wonderful writer and I love ALL of her work.

I like the emotion she puts into the story and I like Norma Lana's voice. The later Brockmann books have two narrators and some of the narration sometimes has a cartoonish quality that makes me cringe and I'm not fond of. I like the earlier books with the single narrator best.

Moment(s) .... Suz isn't afraid to get into the emotions of her characters - and they all have emotions - men and women. I love them all. Also, in this book and several of her other books she had a sub-storyline that was just as compelling as the main line. My degrees are in history and I appreciate that Suzanne took the time to put in these stories that some people would never otherwise have read or heard about.

Read this book - read them all. I haven't read a bad one yet. In fact - read ALL of Suz's books from all her series. They are my old faithfuls and I've listened to them MULTIPLE times.

I LIKED THIS BOOK ALOT. IT COULD JUST HAVE EASILY BEEN A STAND ALONE BOOK. HOWEVER, SHE GIVES YOU ENOUGH OF THE BACK STORY ON OTHER CHARACTERS TO KEEP YOU UP TO DATE.
KARMONDY IS A GREAT GUY AND YOU DON'T GET ALOT OF INSIGHT ON HIM IN THE OTHER STORIES. YOU'LL GET A GLIMPSE NOW AND THEN SAME WITH SAVANNAH. THE STORY WITHIN A STORY WITH ROSE IS ALSO AWESOME
ROSE'S STORY WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT NOVELLA.

faster paced, interesting

i Liked wild card and Savannah but the ongoing saga of Alyssa and Sam is a continuous thread in the series that keeps them connected.

Hard to put down

I've listened to the 3 previous books in the troubleshooters series (The Unsung Hero, The Defiant Hero and Over The Edge) and loved every second of all 3 of those audio books. In all 3 the narration was a true performance and enhanced the story.
I purchased the 4th book on the series today and after trying to get through the first hour of the story I wish I could say the same about this book. The other books flowed and I was so engrossed in the story that I just lost track of time. I feel bad for saying it but the acting in this narration doesn't flow - you know when you're watching a TV show or movie and you can tell when the actors are acting? That's how the narration of this book felt to me.
