McPhee's work sets the bar for creative non fiction. His writing contains the masterful rhythms of the highest musical order. His research and knowledge of subject, not to mention love of subject, appears in every essay. My ten year old daughter and I listened to several 'stories' about the Brooklyn farmers markets, and bears in Alaska. If you don't know his work, you're in for a sublime treat.

"You can skip part of it"
Some of the excerpts were interesting and some I found to be just dull so I skipped them. I've read several of his complete books and liked them, but the geology books (an excerpt is included here) is boring.
